OUR thoughts on Plantation Island Resort, Malolo Lailai Island, Mamanuca Islands
From the moment you arrive at Plantation you can't help but notice two things; firstly, the amount of holiday activity going on around the beach, and secondly, the fact that everyone is having such a great time! The smiling staff members meet you at the jetty singing a welcome song before escorting you to the Reception lobby where part of the welcoming process is the showing of a 5-minute video which gives an excellent insight into all the facilities and special amenities available at the resort,. .
There are several restaurants from which to choose. The Ol’Copra Shed, Tavola Restaurant & Bar, The Kana Vale Snack Bar and the Black Coral Grill specialises in grilles meat and seafood along with their ever-popular hot-rock options. Don’t overlook Plantation’s great little on-site mini-supermarket and the option of visiting the restaurant at Musket Cove Resort which is accessed after an easy walk around the end of the airstrip.
Weddings and Vow Renewals are another feature of the services available at Plantation Island Resort. This is a great location for a wedding and a wide range of wedding packages are available from their classic, very well-priced “Romantic Lailai Wedding” through to their “Deluxe Inclusive Wedding Package” with all the trimmings. Your Room & Bure Options
There is 198 accommodation units in an impressive range of options. One of these many options is bound to suit your requirements. "Casual comfort and space" are the main features of the accommodation at Plantation. Many rooms and bures have extra space for a couple of comfortable day bed divans as well as chairs, a small table and a fridge. All accommodation is air-conditioned.
Room Categories (In ascending order of tariff)
Garden Rooms:
Although still handy to everything, the Garden Rooms are the most secluded of all the accommodation types at Plantation Island Resort. The Garden Rooms have a separate bedroom and separate living area. Located in blocks of 4 Terrace Rooms to a building, there is an interconnecting option.
Maximum Occupancy: Up to 4 Adults or 4 Adults and 1 Child.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed and 2 Single Sofa Beds.
Additional Bedding: 1 fold-out Sofa Bed.
Poolside Rooms:
These ground floor hotel-style rooms are in blocks, containing 4 rooms each, which are clustered around a lovely separate swimming pool. They are a good big size with open-plan and feature a second toilet with hand-basin.
Maximum Occupancy: Up to 4 Adults or 4 Adults and 1 Child.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed and 2 Single Sofa Beds.
Additional Bedding: 1 fold-out Sofa Bed.
Beachfront Hotel Rooms:
The Beachfront Hotel Rooms are located in 10 two-level blocks handy to the new arrival marina. Each block contains 4 open-plan rooms in a 2 up/2 down layout. Each room has a view of the ocean, but upper level rooms have a wider view, less obstructed by coconut palm fronds Each room features a raised platform at the rear (2 steps up from the lounge area) which houses the Queen Bed. The lounge area is furnished with 2 divan beds, which are ideal for children to use as beds.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 Adults or 3 Adults and 1 Child.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed and 2 Single Sofa Beds.
Studio Garden Bures:
Mainly located close to the hotel lobby and restaurants, these bures, which comprise one big open-plan room, are normally in blocks of 2 and half of them interconnect. The odd one or two have a peep of the sea but getting one of those is the luck of the draw as they can't be pre-booked.
Maximum Occupancy: Up to 4 Adults or 4 Adults and 1 Child.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed and 2 Single Sofa Beds.
Additional Bedding: 1 fold-out Sofa Bed.
Two Bedroom Garden Bures:
Located on both sides of the Resort Central Facility, either immediately behind the Beachfront Bures or closer to the main swimming pool complex behind the Studio Garden Bures. The large Two Bedroom Garden Bures have 2 separate bedrooms (one bathroom) and a huge living area. The main bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has 2 single beds.
Maximum Occupancy: 6 guests
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed and 4 Single Beds.
Additional Bedding: 2 fold-out Sofa Beds.
Beachfront Bures:
Beautiful, big bures located right on the beach frontage to the right-hand side of the central facility. These bures have a main bedroom with queen bed and an area which contains a coffee table and chairs. There is a separate screened second sleeping area containing 2 single beds.
Maximum Occupancy: Up to 4 Adults or 4 Adults and 1 Child.
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed and 2 Single Beds and 1 Single Sofa Bed
Getting to and from Plantation Island Resort
Transfer from Nadi International Airport to Port Denarau Marina or Vuda Point Marina by coach or private vehicle to connect to your boat transfer.
Malolo Cat high-speed catamaran from Port Denarau Marina. This service operates 4 times daily. Approximately a 50-minute trip
Speedboat transfers which take approximately 40 minutes from Denarau Marina to Plantation Island can be arranged and this a good alternative. However, the operation of speedboats is entirely dependent on the weather.
Families and Kids
Kids Stay Free:
Up to 2 children aged 0-11 years stay free when sharing with parents and using existing bedding. Baby cots are provided free of charge.
Kids Eat Free:
All children aged 0-11 years eat free from the kids menu when dining with parents or guardian or from the designated kids buffet at specific restaurants.
Kids Play Free:
The complimentary Coconut Kids Club (located next to the Craft Workshop) features daily, organised activities with friendly Fijian child supervisors. The Kids Club is for children aged between 4 and 12 years (children under 4 years may join in if they are supervised by a parent or babysitter).
Babysitting and Nanny Services
Babysitting is available at an additional charge (minimum 3 hours).
Nanny Service is available for either all day or 24 hour child minding. Our Specialists have full details and can organise these child-minding services in advance of your arrival on the island.
