OUR Thoughts on Mangoes Resort
An up-town Port Vila Resort for adults only, Mangoes Resort is built on the top of the gentle hill which rises up from Port Vila Harbour and ends at a ridge overlooking the Erakor Lagoon and the overwater bungalows at the Holiday Inn Resort. This ridge is a favoured residential area for many of Vanuatu’s business people and there is little wonder why - there are beautiful views over the lagoon, cooling easterly breezes and a wonderful sunrise to greet each day.
The resort grounds at Mangoes slope gently down from the road, the result of this being that, no matter which grade of accommodation you choose, you never get a “hemmed-in” feeling. Apart from the “No Children” policy the main features of Mangoes are the relaxing atmosphere, the closeness to Port Vila and the number of swimming pools that are available to guests throughout the property. Of the 26 individual villas and apartments, 10 have private plunge pools, each one is a decent 15m2 size, and scattered throughout the grounds there are another 3 pools for the use of all guests. The result of having all these pools is that no guest room is very far away at all from a swimming pool. One of these three pools is suitable for doing laps, while the other two are made for relaxing. (One of these pools is split level and incorporates a waterfall). We've usually found that even when Mangoes is fully booked it is unusual to be sharing any pool with other guests.
It takes only 10 to 15-minutes to walk into town. Going in it is downhill all the way, but it can be a bit of a grind on the way back in the heat of the day, especially if you’ve been shopping. However, there is always the option of the Port Vila public transport mini-buses which will take you virtually anywhere in the town environs for 150 Vatu. Just a few minutes from Mangoes you pass through a Ni-Vanuatu (local people) settlement. At night the men of the village gather at the local Nakamal kava bar (the location is marked by a red light on the roadside) and visitors are welcome to drop in for a shell or two of kava. Beware! Vanuatu kava is the “real stuff” and much more potent than the kava you may have experienced as a tourist in Fiji. The atmosphere in the village Nakamals is very friendly and welcoming to visitors.
Mangoes Resort has a very pleasant restaurant which is open to non-guests as well, and they do accept children in the restaurant. Even though the building is not old, the restaurant and the bar and the surrounding veranda terrace decks have a lovely old-fashioned plantation-style cool and open tropical feel about them with their wooden shutters, timber floors and leafy outlook. Room service is available 7:00am to 9:00pm and a romantic dinner on your villa balcony is easily arranged.
A top spot for a wedding or a honeymoon, Mangoes is a place for relaxing around one of the many pools and soaking up the quiet atmosphere and the tropical views. It’s a place from which to venture out on expeditions to the many interesting sites around Port Vila and Efate, to enjoy something of the local culture, then to return home to the calm oasis at Mangoes Resort above the lagoon.

Your Accommodation Options
Mangoes accommodation types cover a whole range of options. As mentioned above, some have private pools, some have lagoon views, Garden Pool View Apartments have the option of a kitchen for self-catering. Air-conditioning is optional and charged at 1500 vatu per night. This charge is payable by guests direct to the resort. All accommodation has ceiling fans, flow-through ventilation, modern appointments, ensuite bathrooms, tea/coffee facility and fridge, iron and ironing board, satellite TV, telephone, room service, lockable wardrobe, daily servicing and internet access (charged). Hairdryers are available from Reception. Every unit has a comfortably furnished balcony/patio.

Exactly the same appointments, size (40m2) and layout as the Garden View Bungalows, but providing occupants with spectacular views out over the lagoon. Recently refurbished, all have 2 ceiling fans. Air-conditioning is available on request only at a charge of 1200vatu per night and the charge is payable direct to the resort by the guest. Bathrooms have a nice big corner shower and single vanity.

Garden View Pool Apartments
Four very special apartments, each one 80m2 in size and featuring a separate bedroom and separate lounge/dining/kitchen. Each has a private 15m2 plunge pool as well as an expansive landscaped courtyard/balcony. The outlook from these apartments is of the tropical lawns and gardens. The bathroom features a large shower. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with an oven and cook-top. The rooms are airy and beautifully designed with exquisite timber joinery, plantation shutters and ceiling fans and the living/dining room includes a dining table and chairs as well as comfortable lounge furniture. One apartment comes with optional air-conditioning. Air-conditioning is available on request only at a charge of 1200vatu per night and the charge is payable direct to the resort by the guest.

Getting To and From Mangoes Resort
As required/agreed, seat in vehicle or private vehicle airport transfers will be included in all packages arranged by Our Pacific.
It is an easy 10-15 minute walk down the hill into Port Vila town from Mangoes, but not so easy on the way back! However, the convenient and cheap Port Vila independent public transport mini-taxi-buses stop right outside the resort and although they do not operate to a timetable, they operate on demand – just flag one down! Taxis and Rental Cars are readily available.
Kids’ Policy
Mangoes Resort Vanuatu is an adults-only resort. Guests aged under 18 years are not accommodated.
Check-in/Check Out
The hotel will make every effort to ensure your rooms are available at your time of check-in; however, although Mangoes’ check-in and check-out times are very flexible, here are their standard times:
Check In Time: 2:00pm
Check Out Time: 10:00am
To guarantee a late check-out to 2:00pm, a charge of 50% of the nightly tariff is charged.
