Our Thoughts on Hotel Les Tipaniers - Moorea
There are two “Tipaniers” properties on Moorea, “Les Tipaniers” as described here and “Tipaniers Iti” which is a smaller, sister property located 4kms further east along the north coast of the island of Moorea.

For a property which rates 2 Star, Les Tipaniers certainly has a lot going for it for those seeking a lower-priced accommodation option on Moorea.  It’s probably the absence of a swimming pool and the lack of air-conditioning in the rooms that drops its rating down from a possible 3 Star rating. We’ve never found the lack of a swimming pool to be much of a drawback at this hotel.  The beach at Les Tipaniers, which is recognised as one of the best on Moorea, is nice and sandy and shallow enough closer to the shore for little kids to enjoy in safety and the water off the end of the pier is beautiful for adults to enjoy a swim. The lack of air-conditioning in the bungalows is probably only a minor issue for some guests for a few weeks in the height of the summer from mid-January to the end of February.  The accommodation at Les Tipaniers is a good mid-standard, (especially those bungalows which include a kitchenette), and the availability of services is also pretty good. Free Wifi throughout the property is a very welcome feature.

The activities included in the tariff are:  the use of canoes, beach volleyball, table tennis and petanque. 

The Hotel has bicycles to rent and right next door there is a full range of water sport hire gear available – snorkelling equipment, kayaks and paddle boards etc. Lagoon Tours, Dive Boats etc come and go from the deep-water end of the pier and the Reception Staff at the hotel will happily assist with booking the famous Moorea 4WD Tour as well as assisting with bookings for Polynesian Dance Shows etc.

Les Tipaniers has 2 restaurants.  A beautiful beach terrace restaurant and bar which opens for breakfast and lunch then stays open until 7:00pm for drinks, ice creams and light snacks, and their a-la-carte dinner Garden Restaurant which specialises in French and Italian cuisine, located on the roadside near the entrance to the hotel. The Beach Restaurant offers low-key live music on Friday evenings and the Garden Restaurant has live international music on Saturday evenings.

This is a magic location.  From the beach and the Beach Restaurant and bar, the view is of the lagoon is framed by Motu Tiahura on the left and the pier to the right.  The sunset over Motu Tiahura can be spectacular, but if you want a really great show, wander down the pier with a cool drink in hand as the sun sets – that will certainly set you up for a great evening!  

As with most of Moorea, you will probably wake early to the sounds of the roosters starting their daily call, so in the morning, take an early stroll, or bike down to the village for fresh croissants or other French delicacies and get set-up for another relaxing Moorea day.

Your Accommodation Options 
Les Tipaniers has 22 accommodation units.  Air-conditioning is not offered but all have ceiling fans and opening, screened windows and all except the Vanilla Bungalow have nice high gabled ceilings and a thatched roof to aid cooling.  The Vanilla Bungalow, which sleeps up to 6 is particularly suitable for families and is more like a conventional house with a separate bedroom and flat ceilings.  All accommodation has light-coloured ceramic-tiled floors and white-painted walls.  The pitched ceilings (where present) are in the restful, wood-panel style. All units have a pleasant small furnished terrace out front.

 Standard Bungalows:
A good size at 32m² Standard Bungalows are located throughout the resort grounds, some have a partial ocean view.  Standard Bungalows do not have a kitchenette but do have a good-sized fridge. The tiled bathroom has a shower.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed and 1 or 2 Single Day Beds in the lounge area. An option exists for there to be 4 Single Beds.
Additional Bedding: 1 baby cot can be added

 Garden Bungalows with Kitchen:

36m².  Of the 9 Bungalows with Kitchenette, 7 are garden-based and 2 are designated “Beach Bungalows”.  The 2 Beach Bungalows have a pleasant location near the beach frontage; the Garden Bungalows are located throughout the resort grounds. Each of these bungalows has a kitchenette which comprises a sink, gas cook-top, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle and half-size fridge.  Light cooking utensils are provided and there is a table and chairs in the living area. The Double Bed is in a semi-separate area raised up 3 steps from the lounge with a low dividing wall between the raised sleeping area and the lounge/kitchen area.  Curtains are provided to give privacy to the sleeping area if required.  The tiled bathroom has a shower.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed in the raised sleeping area, 2 Single Day Beds in the lounge area.
Additional Bedding: 1 baby cot can be added

 Vanilla Bungalows with Kitchen:
The Vanilla Bungalows are approximately 55m² in area and located around 100 metres from the beach.  Vanilla Bungalows have a separate bedroom and separate living/kitchen/dining room and a bathroom with shower. The kitchenette has a sink, cook-top, dishwasher and under-counter fridge.  Light cooking utensils are provided. Vanilla Bungalows have been refurbished recently. Maximum Occupancy: 6 guests
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed in the separate bedroom and 2 Single Day Beds in the lounge area.
Additional Bedding: 2 additional Single Beds can be added. A cot can be accommodated.

Getting To and From Les Tipaniers - Moorea
Les Tipaniers is located 25kms from Moorea Airport and 30kms from the Ferry Terminal.  We will include seat-in-vehicle transfers and flight or ferry crossing arrangements as required/agreed in holiday package arrangements.

This hotel is located only 800 metres from “Le Petit Village” (Haapiti Shopping Centre) and is very handy to several independent restaurants and cafés.  It is a pleasant morning walk to the village.  Hiring a moter scooter is a great way to get around Moorea from Les Tipaniers; as Moorea is not a huge island (you could travel right around the island in an hour without stopping) and a scooter or car enables you to drop into roadside cafés and any of the major resorts for a snack, coffee and a break on the way round.

Guests requiring a guaranteed early check-in or a late check-out will be charged for an additional night accommodation for both early check-in and/or late check-out.  The Hotel provides a guests’ shower off the lobby area so late-departing guests may freshen-up after a day on the beach before heading for the ferry to Papeete or to the Moorea Airport.
