Our Thoughts on InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort, Matira Point, Bora Bora
In Bora Bora resort terms, InterContinental’s Le Moana is considered a smaller resort so guests really do enjoy the friendly individual service, although, with 62 bungalows, it’s big enough to provide all the services you need for a memorable holiday on Bora Bora. The Resort is located on the main island on a big, beautiful white sand beach on the eastern side of a narrow point of land known as Matira Point.  Just across the quiet circle island road outside the resort is Matira Beach which faced west and is a superb spot from which to enjoy the romantic sunset.  Being a public beach, Matira Beach is well served by local cafes and restaurants and there is a food market within a 10 to 15-minute walk.  Many guests at the InterContinental Le Moana find these cafes and shops a pleasant optional addition to the excellent restaurants at the Resort.  Because Le Moana is on the mainland it is very handy to all Bora Bora’s well-known restaurants such as Bloody Mary’s (3 minute taxi ride) and the magnificent Villa Mahana is around 12 minute drive away. Vaitape, the main town on Bora Bora is only a 7-minute taxi ride away. Many of the well-known restaurants on Bora Bora’s main island provide complimentary transfers to InterContinental Le Moana guests.

The InterContinental Le Moana Bora Bora has a pleasant, established, relaxed authentic Polynesian feel about it and guests very quickly get into the casual Bora Bora mode. Mind you, if you feel like a change of scenery at any time you can take the Resort shuttle boat  for a 10 to 15-minute ride through the lagoon to the other Bora Bora InterContinental Resort, the five-star InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa which is located on one of the outer lagoon islands and where you can enjoy all the facilities and services this resort has to offer and charge back to your Le Moana bungalow.  If you pre-purchase a meal plan at Le Moana, you may take any of the meals at the sister property. Your bungalow at Le Moana is always a very welcome place to come home to after a day out enjoying the many activities/sights that Bora Bora offers.

Your Accommodation Options
You arrive at the resort jetty by boat from the airport and are taken on a quick orientation tour of the resort before heading to the resort Reception.  As you look out at the lagoon you will see a long line of Overwater Bungalows straight ahead of you that spread well out into the lagoon.  Along this string, the bungalows closest to Reception and the restaurants and those further out which face back towards the beautiful beach are 6 designated “Overwater Bungalows Beach View”.  The bungalows further out and those facing outward over the lagoon are 9 designated “Overwater Bungalows Mountain View”.   At the very end of this string of bungalows are designated “End of Pontoon Overwater Bungalows".

Past the lovely horizon swimming pool on the beach there is a line of 12 bungalows right on the beach which are known as “Beach Bungalows Lagoon View” At the furthest end of the beach there is another smaller group of overwater bungalows which are closer to the shore and this group contains 4 Overwater Bungalows Beach View and 2 Overwater Bungalows Lagoon View.  All bungalows are air-conditioned but, depending on the time of year you are visiting, the lagoon breezes are often enough to cool the bungalows - especially at night. All bungalow interiors have a similar Junior-Suite layout with well-defined sleeping and living areas.

 Beach Bungalows Lagoon View:
At 55m² these Junior Suite-style bungalows have a bedroom and lounge area plus a large bathroom with separate shower and bath and a nice big furnished deck. All feature a Polynesian island style natural wood décor. Two are wheelchair accessible.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 Adults or 2 Adults & 1 Child aged under 15 years
Bedding Configuration: 1 King Bed and a Sofa Bed or 2 Single beds and a Sofa Bed
Additional Bedding: Apart from a baby cot, no additional bedding is accommodated

Overwater Bungalows Beach View:
Overwater Bungalows Mountain View:

 End of Pontoon Overwater Bungalows:
Similar to the Beach Bungalows Lagoon View but built on stilts over the lagoon, these bungalows are 36m² in size plus a 19m² integrated deck over 2 levels which features a sun-deck, outdoor shower, chairs and dining area.
Overwater Bungalows Beach View are closer to the hotel facilities with views of the beach.
Overwater Bungalows Moutain View feature a view of the moutain and main island.
Overwater Bungalows Ocean View are located further in the lagoon with views of the horizon.
Overwater Bungalows Lagoon View are located further in the lagoon with views of the lagoon.
End of Pontoon Overwater Bungalows are located at the end of the pontoon with the best views.

Getting to and from InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort
Bora Bora Airport is located on an island at the far end of the lagoon from InterContinental Le Moana so arriving guests enjoy a scenic lagoon tour and wonderful views of the whole island as you approach.  The comfortable launch transfer between the airport jetty and the resort takes approximately 30 minutes each way.
Children aged 3 to 11 years travel at half price and those aged under 3 years travel free on the Airport Transfers.

InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana is located on the main island of Bora Bora and while there is no public transport as such anywhere on Bora Bora, taxis are readily available.  The Matira Beach cafés, independent restaurants, a foodmarket and general retail shops are all well within walking distance of the resort.

The Hotel standard check-in and check-out times are as follows:

Check Out Time: 11:00am
Early Check-in and Late Check-out
Late check-out to 6:00pm is charged at 50% of the nightly accommodation rate booked.
Late check-out after 6:00pm is charged as an additional night.

The hotel provides its guests with transit rooms with individual showers for early arrivals and late departures.
