OUR Thoughts on The Samoan Outrigger Hotel, Cross Island Road, Motootua, Apia
Charmingly different, The Samoan Outrigger Hotel exudes an “old world” Pacific Island charm with its historic Colonial Building as a centrepiece and a nice big swimming pool in the garden bordered on one side by several traditional Samoan Fales which offer guests a comfortable, well-priced accommodation option as well as the opportunity to enjoy an authentic Samoan accommodation experience in a comfortable environment.

An interesting option for a stay in Apia.  If you have ever contemplated trying a Samoan Fale experience, this is a good place to sample the Fale life before or after a stay in one of the South Coast Resorts as an introduction to a possible return Samoan holiday in one of the several gorgeous far-flung beach fale locations we offer. 

The traditional fales at Samoan Outrigger are located beside the pool which is adjacent to the main hotel building which houses the restaurant, reception, lounge, the kitchen (which all guests are welcome to use to cook their own meals) and the communal bathroom facilities with (hot water showers) which are available not only to guests staying in the fales but also to the guests staying in Standard Rooms in the main Colonial Building.  Many of the rooms in the Colonial Building have ensuite bathrooms and air-conditioning, but in the cheaper accommodation types in that building, guests share the communal bathrooms with the fale guests.

Samoan Outrigger is well located in a predominantly residential area of Apia, only a 15-minute walk into Apia Town. Local buses between the north and south coasts pass constantly and provide an efficient service and a pleasant “local” experience for guests at Samoan Outrigger to enjoy.  Taxis are cheap and readily available to carry you to and from town and all the facilities on offer there, such as banks, restaurants, shops, markets, gyms etc.  However, there are several restaurants and food outlets easily accessed by foot around Samoan Outrigger and there is a pleasant little market directly across the road which runs beside the hotel.

You will be looked after very well at Samoan Outrigger – staff take great pride in their heritage, are super friendly and very keen to share their local knowledge of sights, activities and facilities.

Your Accommodation Options
Fales – traditional style with a genuine thatched roof, woven coconut frond panels can be lowered from the roof to form outside walls for privacy. To aid natural cooling, these fales are raised up 4 or 5 steps on short piles in the traditional way, allowing the air to circulate all around.

Rooms in the Colonial Building – The lovely old Colonial Building is the centre of the hotel where you will find the reception, restaurant and lounge.  All the Hotel Rooms are also housed in this building.

Samoan Garden Fales:

Pool view traditional Samoan Fales with woven screens for walls which can be let down from the roof line for privacy. Fales have power points for charging devices and insect netting above beds.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 Adults or 2 Adults and 2 Children or 1 Adult and up to 3 Children.
Existing Bedding: 1 Double Bed and 1 Single Bed
Additional Bedding: A cot/infant bed may be added

HOTEL ROOMS IN THE COLONIAL BUILDING:
Standard Rooms with Shared Facilities:
      (Communal bathrooms with hot water showers)
Located upstairs in the Colonial Building – individual rooms vary in size and layout, but all have a nice high ceiling stud, a ceiling fan and a windows overlooking the gardens from the second level.
Maximum Occupancy: 3 guests.  (may be all adults or adults and children)
Existing Bedding: 1 Double Bed and 1 Single Bed
Additional Bedding: A cot/infant bed may be added.

Air-Conditioned Rooms with Ensuite:
Located on Ground Floor in the Colonial Building, the 5 Air-conditioned rooms with ensuite are repainted annually which keeps them fresh and clean. The ensuite bathrooms all have hot-water showers
Maximum Occupancy: 3 guests, (may be all adults or adults and children)
Existing Bedding: 1 Double Bed and 1 Single Bed
Additional Bedding: A cot/infant bed may be added.

The Family Room with Ensuite:
A big, airy open-plan room located upstairs in the Colonial Building. The Family Room has an ensuite bathroom with hot water shower and is cooled by a ceiling fan.
Maximum Occupancy: 5 Adults (may be all adults or adults and children)
Existing Bedding: 2 Double Beds and 1 Single Bed
Additional Bedding: A cot/infant bed may be added.

Getting to and from The Samoan Outrigger Hotel
Samoa Scenic Tours have a bus at the airport for every flight arrival and will transfer our Samoan Outrigger Hotel guests to the hotel.  Airport transfers will be included in package arrangements as required/agreed.
 
Kids Policy
Children are welcome at Samoan Outrigger.
1 Child Stays Free
The first child aged under 12 years, sharing a room with adults stays free of charge (including tropical breakfast).
