SOUTH PACIFIC RESORT HOTEL
Our Pacific's Resort Report
OUR Thoughts on South Pacific Resort Hotel Taylors Road, Burnt Pine
South Pacific Resort Hotel has a fantastic location on Taylors Road, which is the road running through the middle of Burnt Pine, Norfolk Island’s only town. The hotel is set back from the road along a winding drive which meets Taylors Road at the beginning of the town shops. From the garden of the hotel a valley gently falls away towards the coast. Staying at South Pacific Resort Hotel means you are virtually right at the centre of the island and everything that makes this island such a great place to holiday is reasonably close at hand.
Over the past five years or so the hotel has undergone a major renovation and modernisation program of both the rooms and the public spaces. Rooms are in great shape and the restaurants, lounge (complete with a lovely, welcoming fireplace) and the pool area are all comfortable and pleasant spaces.
With a vast collection of aviation materials, the new Aviation Poolside Café offers a good range of café food along with the extensive views, and the more recently upgraded Cooks Landing Restaurant with its Western and Asian cuisine is a very welcome enhancement. The Continental buffet breakfast which is included in the tariff and which can be upgraded to a cooked selection if required at a reasonable charge is served in Cooks Landing Restaurant. The resort facilities include a conference room which is the biggest conference/meeting space on the island.
The good people at South Pacific Resort Hotel are happy to organise a picnic lunch or a special dinner for a special occasion.
The South Pacific Resort Hotel is an ideal choice for anyone seeking a centrally located full-service hotel with resort-style facilities.

Your Accommodation Options
Of the 49 accommodation units at South Pacific, 31 are Garden Rooms, 16 are Superior Rooms, there are 2 Deluxe Rooms and 3 new Penthouse Rooms. These have been joined by 5 Eveleen Suites and 2 all-new Serviced Apartments – a One Bedroom Serviced Apartment and 1 Three Bedroom Serviced Apartment. All rooms have been upgraded during the renovation process.
The Garden Rooms are generally the furthest away from the lobby, restaurant, pool etc, but no rooms are really all that far away. The Garden Rooms have pleasing valley views and are very comfortable.
The Superior Rooms, which are a little closer to the hotel’s lobby, are a lot more spacious with lounge furniture and coffee table and, in our opinion, well worth the small extra nightly tariff. The 2 Deluxe Rooms are located on each end of the two Superior Rooms blocks and are very spacious; they have additional features like a toaster, cutlery, crockery, a DVD player as well as lounge furniture, iron and ironing board etc.
The 3 new Penthouse Rooms are really lovely. They are located upstairs over the Lobby Lounge and have views either down the valleys to the sea beyond or over the pool area towards the interior of the island. As far as hotel rooms go on Norfolk Island, the Penthouse Rooms at South Pacific Resort Hotel are certainly up there with the best on offer.
Most recently added, the Eveleen Suites are close to reception and restaurants and have valley and ocean views from a spacious balcony.
With the exception of the Penthouse Rooms, all rooms have a shower only. All have a tea/coffee making facility, a small fridge and an iron and ironing board. Rooms are fan-cooled and also have flow-through ventilation.
