OUR Thoughts on Christian's of Bucks Point, Martins Road, Norfolk Island
Indulge in Norfolk Island 's most awarded luxury accommodation, Christian's of Bucks Point. This beautifully restored island home was originally built in 1914 by Cornelius Christian, a direct descendant of Fletcher Christian the bounty mutineer. Situated on over two acres of land, constructed mainly of convict-milled Norfolk Pine, awaits you with it's warm and peaceful atmosphere, created over many years of island hospitality. This self-contained property will be exclusively yours, perfect for a romantic escape for two or ideal for a large family or corporate group of up to six.
There are three private bedrooms (Queen with ensuite, king, and a smaller king) and two additional bathrooms, fully equipped country style kitchen/dining room, lounge room, sitting room and designated office for the working traveler. It contains the added convenience and comfort of electric blankets, internal laundry, hair-dryers, telephone and hotspot internet. Experience the luxury of all modern facilities, including, satellite TV, video and DVD player. Or simply relax on the veranda with a bottle of complimentary champagne and enjoy the views and charming secluded surrounds. Much of the timber (including the kitchen floor boards) is from original convict buildings having been well preserved by the original method of soaking in salt water. Some of the original furniture remains. Every effort has been taken to preserve the home's early 1900's charm. The orchard to the rear of the home has a number of fruit trees from which we encourage guests to pick when the fruit is in season. At the front of the house is a beautiful rose bush, transplanted from the historical Kingston area about 80 years ago.
Your Accommodation Options
As you cross the nice wide wrap-around veranda and enter the front door you will see the three rooms on the front of the house are the second and third bedrooms and the sitting room. The sitting room and the 3rd bedroom open directly on to the veranda. The country kitchen, lounge and study take up the entire centre of the house and the main ensuite bedroom, the 2 additional bathrooms and the second toilet and laundry take up the rear of the house and a wide hallway opens up to another veranda and deck (complete with gas BBQ) at the back of the house facing over the garden.
The main bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet. The second bedroom which is on the front of the house is a good size and the third bedroom also on the front of the house is a smaller bedroom, but still very comfortable. The second and third bathrooms are not attached to these bedrooms, they are located on the other side of the lounge, one has a bath and vanity and the other a shower and vanity. There is 1 separate toilet in the vicinity of these two bathrooms.
Maximum Occupancy: 6 guests, but it’s great for 1 couple too.
Existing Bedding: In the main bedroom with ensuite, there is 1 Queen Bed.
In the second and third bedrooms there is a King Bed, each of which can be split into 2 Single Beds if required.
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding available
Getting To and From Christians of Bucks Point
Arriving guests are met at the airport and transferred to the property. A departure transfer is also provided.
