OUR Thoughts on Whispering Pines Cottages, Mount Pitt Road, Norfolk Island
Whispering Pines is around 1.5 kms from town and that’s a reasonable walk, but it could be a bit of a challenge on the way back up hill carrying supplies, so that’s why a rental car is provided with each cottage – guests only pay for daily insurance and need to leave the car with a full tank of petrol. A credit card imprint is required for the rental excess bond.
Mt Pitt Road carries on past Whispering Pines and winds upward another 1.5kms-or-so through the beautiful National park to the summit of Mt Pitt. The views rom the top of Mt Pitt are stunning – you can virtually see all of Norfolk island and Philip Island from the lookout. At Whispering Pines you are so close to the lookout at Mt Pitt, you can nick up there any time you choose – enjoy sunrise and sunset, but the best view is probably gained on a day when there is an aircraft departure. It’s quite an experience to be looking down at the airport from the mountain as the aircraft taxis out and takes off.

“Nestled close to the edge of the Norfolk Island National Park, Whispering Pines Cottages sit around the ridge line overlooking the stunning slopes and valleys overed in iconic Norfolk Island pine. Just out of town, but quiet enough that you find yourself getting lost in the view of the stunning natural scenery with the ocean just off in the distance beyond. With 7 cottages in total, two groups of two and one group of 3, these cottages make the ideal setting for small families or groups of friends travelling together – offering close proximity but still allowing for personal space. All cottages are fully self-contained with modern and spacious kitchens with open plan living and dining rooms. There are 5 cottages with 2 bedrooms and 2 en-suite bathrooms, and 2 cottages with 2 bedrooms/1 bathroom. Sit on the front veranda, enjoy a BBQ and watch the sun go down over the mountain.

Your Accommodation Options
Rated by AAA at 4-Star (Self-Catering). The 7 cottages are spread around 3 different locations on a 16-acre site. Three of the cottages are located quite high up where Grassy Rd and Mt Pitt Rd meet, two are beside Mt Pitt Road and the original two cottages are down a beautiful, long drive on the side of the valley off Mt Pitt Rd. All have modern décor, are well maintained and offer full kitchens and a spacious living/dining area. The hexagonal cottages have a nice high ceiling in the living area. Each has an outdoor covered sitting area/veranda.
Cottage facilities include fully equipped kitchen, fridge/freezer, gas stove and microwave oven, clothes washer, iron and ironing board, fans and gas heating, electric blankets, telephone, TV, video, radio, hairdryer, insect screens and dressing gowns. Guests are free to use the tennis court at sister property - Ocean Breeze.

Two Bedroom, One Bathroom Cottages:
The 2 Cottages on Mt Pitt Rd have 2 bedrooms which share a bathroom. These cottages have valley and mountain views.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen double in one bedroom and 1 King double in the second bedroom which can be split into 2 Single Beds.
Additional Bedding: A baby (under 2 years of age) in a cot may be added over and above the maximum occupancy allowance.
Two Bedroom, Two Bathroom Cottages:
The 3 Grassy Rd Cottages have valley and mountain views and a peep of the sea in the distance above the trees. These cottages have 2 bedrooms each with ensuite bathrooms with a shower. The 3 cottages in Grassy Road and the original Two Bedroom Cottages share the same nightly tariff.

The 2 Original Cottages in the Quiet Valley are just slightly bigger. They are located off the road down a driveway in a very peaceful valley right beside the National Park. These cottages have 2 bedrooms, each one with a private ensuite bathroom.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen double in one bedroom and 2 Single Beds in the second bedroom.
Additional Bedding: A baby (under 2 years of age) in a cot may be added over and above the maximum occupancy allowance.
Getting To and From Whispering Pines
Complimentary return airport transfers are provided.
A small 4-door rental car (from Borry’s Rentals) is included with all accommodation bookings at Whispering Pines. Insurance with an excess of $2500, is included. However, if guests prefer, they may pay $10.00 a day to reduce the excess to $500. This payment is made direct to Borry’s Rentals.

All cancellations must be made in writing
Cancellations or amendments made 7 days or less
prior to scheduled arrival incur a cancellation fee
equal to 100% of the services booked.
No Shows are treated as cancellations and charged
