OUR Thoughts on Cumberland Resort and Spa, 100 Taylors Road, Burnt Pine
We’ve watched Cumberland develop over the years.  We have always been very happy with the location which is only a 5-minute walk away from the town cafés and shops.  They’ve always had a beautiful garden setting and now that all accommodation has been refurbished and upgraded and the great little spa added with a huge range of spa/massage treatments, Cumberland is now better than ever and certainly earning its AAA 4 Star to 4½ Star rating.  However, even after all the physical improvements; they still retain the personal friendly environment for which they have been known for years and staff are more than happy to share their local knowledge and give recommendations for dining, sightseeing and the special hidden spots to enjoy to enhance your stay on Norfolk Island.

We rate Cumberland Resort and Spa right up there alongside some of the best self-catering properties on Norfolk Island but what makes it special for us is not only the very good accommodation standards but the many thoughtful extra touches and services provided.  Such things as the personal pick-up at the airport with a brief town orientation on the way in, the access to picnic hampers and rugs for those wanting to enjoy a personal romantic sunset on their own and umbrellas if the weather is a bit spotty. Then, in the one and two bedroom villa categories there is the choice of either their “Executive” standard or the wonderful “Romantic” Villas with their many extras – you will find a full description of these two standards under “Your Accommodation Options” below. These are just some of the  many extra services Cumberland provide for their guests making a stay here very special.

Norfolk Island Spa Treatments at Cumberland Resort and Spa
All packages are performed in house in our Spa Room with an expert masseuse/therapist. Facials, body wraps and exfoliation.

Massage available includes: Relaxation, Swedish, Remedial, Therapeutic, Deep Tissue, Balinese traditional, Shiatsu, Hot Stone and Chinese Cupping.  Infrared Sauna and The Endless Swim Spa offering exercise, relaxation and therapeutic massage all in one compact unit. 

Heated Swim Spa Pool heated at approximately 36 degrees year round, this is the ultimate in muscle relaxation.  Seating up to 12 adults comfortably, the ‘Spa’ end holds strategically placed hydrotherapy multi swirl jets which provide the effervescence of aeration.  The spa functions as normal with bubbles, lights and heat.  The ‘Swim’ end of the spa contains two jets producing a concentrated flow of water, suitable for swimming or walking on the spot. The water pressure can be regulated to accommodate most swimming strokes or skill levels.

Your Accommodation Options
With only 10 individual units, Cumberland Resort and Spa covers almost every conceivable accommodation option. This property is AAA Rated 4 Star and it certainly lives up to that rating.  All accommodation has a separate lounge/living/kitchen and separate bedroom/s, all with polished timber floors and modern, fresh décor.  All bedrooms in all villas (with the exception of those in The 4 Bedroom Cumberland Villa, feature a very modern bathroom with either a spa bath, a spa massage rain shower, or both.

One Bedroom and Two Bedroom Villas are split into two main categories – “Executive” Spa Villas and “Romantic” Spa Villas.  A Romantic Spa Villa is a lot bigger than its Executive counterpart and Romantic Villas come with additional features such as a bottle of wine, chocolates and extra romantic amenities for guests.  In addition, Romantic Spa Villas have bathrooms with a separate spa bath which is much bigger and deeper than the spa baths in Executive Villas and a walk-in massage spa shower.  Executive Villas have either a walk-in massage shower or a combo spa bath with over-bath massage shower. The difference in nightly tariff between One and Two Bedroom “Executive” Villas and their “Romantic” counterparts is quite modest which, in our opinion, makes the “Romantic” Villa type a high value upgrade option very worthy of your consideration.

The various villas are strategically designed to give occupants complete privacy and while some are stand-alone buildings, others can be interconnected which provides an ideal situation for families or groups of friends travelling together.  In all Executive and Romantic Villas, every bedroom has a corresponding number of ensuite bathrooms. The Four Bedroom Cumberland Villa has 3 bathrooms.

The White House accommodation type (see separate listing) is located 4kms away from the Cumberland Resort and Spa in the Buck’s Point area of Norfolk Island.  Guests staying at The White House have full access to all the facilities and services of Cumberland Resort.

The One Bedroom Executive Spa villas have an ensuite bathroom with either a combo spa bath with an overhead spa shower, or a stand-alone massage spa shower.  The modern kitchen has stainless steel appliances and includes a dishwasher. The separate living room features a large sunny veranda.

Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed which can be split into 2 Single beds

 One Bedroom Romantic Spa Villas:
1 bedroom and 1 bathroom and 115m² in size
The One Bedroom Romantic Spa villas have an ensuite bathroom with a larger and deeper spa bath plus a stand-alone massage spa shower.  The modern kitchen has stainless steel appliances and includes a dishwasher. The separate living room features a large sunny veranda.

Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed which can be split into 2 Single beds
Additional Bedding: A portable baby cot may be added.

 Two Bedroom Executive Spa Villas:
2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, 125m²
Two Bedroom Executive Spa Villas offer two ensuite spa bathrooms. Bathrooms have either combo spa baths with an over-bath spa shower or walk-in massage spa showers. All are located on the ground floor and there are no stairs. Separate Living Rooms have LCD/LED TV with Foxtel satellite cable TV (news, movies, sports).

 Two Bedroom Romantic Spa Villas:
2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, 135m²
Two Bedroom Romantic Spa Villas offer two ensuite spa bathrooms. Bathrooms have both a generous-sized spa bath and a walk-in massage spa shower. All are located on the ground floor. Separate Living Rooms have LCD/LED TV with Foxtel satellite cable TV (news, movies, sports).

 The Three Bedroom Executive Spa Villa:

The  150m² Three bedroom Executive Spa villa is a quality, 4 star AAA-rated, modern single-storey, spacious three bedroom, three bathroom villa, in a  tranquil garden setting, ideal for groups or families seeking a quiet convenient location in the heart of town. Bathrooms have either a spa bath or a walk-in massage spa shower
Maximum Occupancy: 6 guests
Existing Bedding: A King Bed in each bedroom, any or all of which can be split into 2 Single beds
Additional Bedding: Portable baby cot/s may be added.

 The 4 Bedroom Cumberland Villa:
4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms
Located in a quiet garden setting with two large living rooms including three leather couches and a huge Norfolk Pine table with eight leather dining chairs. This 2-level villa has one bedroom with ensuite bathroom downstairs and 3 bedrooms upstairs.  The Cumberland Villa features a private car port, private free laundry, cathedral ceilings, halogen lighting, private recreation area, wrap-around veranda and private BBQ.

 The Five Bedroom Executive Spa Villa:
5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms
The Five Bedroom Executive Spa Villa is a combination of three connected ground floor Executive Villas in the East Wing – a One Bedroom and 2 Two Bedroom Executive Villas. Not only do the individual villas interconnect, but their courtyards also interconnect resulting in a huge courtyard and 5 ensuite bedrooms with either spa bath or massage spa shower and 3 living rooms. Besides 42" LCD TV's in the living rooms, most bedrooms have their own wall-mounted LED TV's..

Getting To and From Cumberland Resort and Spa
Cumberland Resort and Spa provide a VIP airport meet & greet for all guests and return airport transfers are included in their package prices. A heavily discounted rental car is included with the accommodation rates per day and this charge, which includes insurance is payable direct to the resort.

Cumberland Resort, it is an easy 5-minute walk to and from Burnt Pine village.

Kids’ Policy
Children are welcome at Cumberland Resort year-round. 
Children are charged a flat rate per night and this includes the use of a car seat, portable cot, highchair and stroller.
Babysitting is available at a reasonable charge.

Check out time is 10:00am
The resort will do all possible to have rooms ready for guests when they arrive, however, if there is a large number of guests departing and arriving on the same flight, rooms may not be ready until the official check-in time.

Resort Cancellation Policy
 All cancellations must be made in writing.
 Cancellation fees are strictly enforced at this property
 Cancellations received at the resort less than 35 days
      prior to scheduled check-in date and no-shows
      incur a cancellation fee equal to 100% of the cost
      of services booked.
