OUR Thoughts on Namukulu Cottages, Namukulu Village, Niue
This is a wonderful location for a holiday in Niue. It’s around 10 kms from Alofi, (where most of restaurants and the main grocery shop is located), so once you start to explore you will need to rent either a car or a small motorbike (we are happy to pre-book a vehicle for you). From Namukulu Cottages it is an easy 2 to 3-minute walk down to Hio Beach which is accessed by a wooden staircase from the roadside. Hio is a lovely little cove, which, at low tide, can offer a rare opportunity on Niue – the chance to stretch out on a small sand beach. Just a 10-minute walk away from Namukulu Cottages you will find the beautiful Limu Pools – a natural rock-formed swimming pool with the clearest water you will ever see. Limu is a wonderful spot for snorkelling and swimming. Namukulu Cottages have bicycles available for guests’ use and these offer an easy way to access the many interesting natural beauty spots around this end of the island.

The cottages themselves are located around 500 metres away from the cliff-side on the edge of the low central plateau and from the property there are spectacular views out over the tropical forest to the sea beyond. Sunsets can be spectacular from here and whales can often be seen during the whale migration season.

Namukulu’s freshwater swimming pool is specially sited for secluded swimming and relaxing. The pool has a shade sail offering sun protection.

For the use of all guests there is wireless internet access to all Cottages (Internet connections on Niue can be slow but quite manageable for basic social-media purposes), snorkelling equipment (mask and snorkel) and bicycles are available for hire. 

The cottages and studios are not serviced during guests stay, but rubbish and compostable material is emptied daily. A guest laundry is available for guests wishing to wash towels, sheets etc.

Niue is a very popular holiday destination and accommodation can sometimes be difficult to confirm – especially in the peak winter periods.  We recommend you book this special little property with us as early as possible, but if your decision to visit Niue (and Namukulu Cottages in particular) is a last-minute one, we’ll always do our best to secure accommodation for you.

Enjoy a drink while watching the spectacular sunsets, go to our lookout point and watch the whales go by, or just lounge by the pool.If you have a sense of adventure you can visit some of the islands favourite swimming/snorkelling spots and caves/chasms which are all within close proximity to us. These include Matapa Chasm, Talava Arches, Limu Pools, Hio Beach, Palaha Cave and Avaiki Cave.

Namukulu Cottages is about 10km north of the main town of Alofi on the sheltered west-side of the island near the coast. The airport is about 12km away and is a very pleasant drive through a number of small villages and plenty of tropical forests. The roads are sealed and offer a comfortable drive.”

Your Accommodation Options
Namukulu Cottages has 5 pleasant Cottages, each with a kitchen; all featuring individual covered decks which face the sunset and the panoramic views over a gently sloping lawn and tropical gardens. 

While the 2 Bedroom Cottage includes laundry facilities, a separate laundry is offered for the use of guests in the One Bedroom Cottages. 

Minimum Stay Policy
Namukulu Cottages accept guests for stays of 7 nights and longer which coincide with the Air New Zealand flights to and from Niue.

 1 Bedroom Cottages:
The three 1-bedroom cottages have cool ceramic tiled floors which fit well with the natural timber walls and cathedral ceilings. There is a separate bedroom and a nice open plan kitchen/dining/living area opening out to your private covered deck which comes complete with an outdoor dining setting. Both the bedroom and the living areas have ceiling fans and the insect-screened louvre windows provide excellent flow-through cooling. The kitchenette is equipped with a full-size refrigerator/freezer, microwave and a 2-burner gas cook-top. The living area has a couch which converts to a Queen-size double bed if required. All cottages are provided with a TV, clock radios, independent solar hot water systems, clothes line and gas BBQ on the deck.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed in the bedroom and a Pull-Out Sofa Bed in the lounge.
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated.

 The 2 Bedroom Cottage:
Like the 1-bedroom cottages in décor, only bigger, the 2-bedroom cottage is very spacious and can accommodate up to 5 people. The large kitchen consists of a 4-burner gas cook-top, full size refrigerator/freezer, a microwave, etc. A covered deck extends the complete length of the front of the cottage and is accessed by doors off both the lounge and the main bedroom. From the living area, the main bedroom and the deck, guests enjoy views over the pool, the lawn and the forest to the sea beyond. The dining/lounge has a 6-seater dining room table, couch, 2 lounge chairs and a coffee table. There is also an outdoor dining setting on the deck which comprises a table and 6 chairs. The single bathroom incorporates a clothes washer and comes stocked with washing powder. All rooms, including the bathroom have ceiling fans.

Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed in the main bedroom, there are 2 Single Beds in the second bedroom and a Pull-Out Sofa Bed in the lounge.
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated.

The 3 Bedroom Cottage: 
A recent addition, the 3 Bedroom Cottage will sleep up to 6 guests. Great for a family or two/three couples travelling together, the 3 Bedroom Cottage offers a large sea facing deck with big BBQ, cooling by ceiling fans, full-sized kitchen with family-sized fridge/freezer, a gas oven and hobs and a choice of inside and outside dining.  The lounge features a large media screen.
The main bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and there is a second bathroom for use of guests in the second and third bedrooms.
Maximum Occupancy: 6 guests
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed in the main bedroom and the second bedroom. There are 2 Single Beds in the third bedroom.
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated.

Getting to and from Namukulu Cottages
Arrival and departure airport transfers are included.

Kids’ Policy
Chidren are welcome at year-round. Namukulu Cottages advise they have 1 portacot which may be reserved for a baby. 
Kindly note that the pool is unfenced.
