OUR Thoughts on Lau’s Getaway, Avatele, Niue
Lau’s Getaway is a Adult's only quality property which adds another dimension to Niue’s collection of lovely little locally-operated visitor accommodation offerings.  Lau’s Getaway is perched on the very edge of the raised coastal coral rock land for which Niue is famous and provides guests staying here with unsurpassed views out over the coastline and the close-in reef and the deep Pacific Ocean.  The proprietors (who, incidentally, also own the Kai Ika Restaurant in Alofi) have thoughtfully provided a pair of powerful binoculars on a stand in both villas enabling close-up views of marine life including migrating whales in season.  Being at the entrance of Avatele Village also gives opportunities to view the local fishermen in their dug-out outrigger canoes and the dive boats out in the wide, sweeping bay.

The villas are of a very high standard and the owners have thought of everything to enhance the holiday experience.  This is one of those places where the view hits you from the moment you enter the villa and captivates you for your entire stay.  On both levels of each stand-alone villa, there is a nice big balcony with a clear glass balustrade which, from all parts of the villa living space, gives the impression of floating above the ocean.  The living room is thoughtfully provided on the lower level and the bedroom (with the signature balcony free-standing bathtub and day bed) and the ensuite bathroom are located on the top level.  Both levels have modern timber plank flooring and clean, light painted walls.  Indoor and outdoor furniture is modern and comfortable.  The kitchen facilities include pots and pans and crockery and cutlery, so producing a full-blown meal is certainly possible, although with the many pleasant restaurants and cafés within a 10-minute drive, you will probably restrict meal production to breakfasts and the odd lunch.

Not content with amazing balcony views, Lau’s have also added a superb little cantilevered deck above the ocean frontage between the 2 villas and this is a wonderful spot for occupants of both villas to meet and toast the sunsets; that is, of course, if you can drag yourself away from sunset champagne while luxuriating in your private balcony bathtub!

There is a different tariff for both villas and this reflects the fact that the occupants of the Supreme View Villa enjoy uninterrupted views, while occupants of the other, the Deluxe View Villa, will notice the Supreme Villa off to one side, but this hardly detracts from the ocean outlook.

Your Accommodation Options
The two villas at Lau’s Getaway are both exactly the same size and layout.  The Supreme Villa is on slightly higher ground and virtually right on the coast top, the Deluxe Villa is beside the Supreme Villa but a little further back and around 10 metres from the cliff front. Both have stunning views - the Supreme Villa’s location closer to the cliff front provides guest balconies with a little more privacy. Villas are serviced daily.

Both Villas feature 2 private glass balustrade balconies from which there are sweeping ocean views.  The top level is the bedroom and bathroom level and this level features a 55” flat-screen TV and a balcony featuring a day bed as well as a 2 person, stand-alone, claw-foot bathtub. The lower level houses the lounge/kitchen/dining space and this level has a balcony furnished with outdoor lounging furniture. In the lounge, you will find a 42-inch flat-screen television. Each air-conditioned Villa has a Bluetooth sound system connection. Villa amenities include powerful binoculars on a stand for marine watching, a fridge, tea and coffee making facility and blackout curtains.
Ensuite bathrooms have a shower.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 Adults
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed.
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated.  However, a second guest requiring separate sleeping arrangements may utilise the fold-out sofa bed in the lounge.

Getting to and from Lau’s Getaway
Lau’s Getaway includes a meet and greet at Niue Airport and return airport transfers in their tariff.  The property is approximately 10kms from the airport and Alofi, Niue’s main town,1km from Scenic Matavai Hotel’s restaurant, the Okioki Mai Café and Bar and approximately 700 metres from Avatele Beach and its famous Washaway Café (open Sundays only).

HIRE CARS AVAILABLE AT LAU'S
Lau’s Getaway now have 2 cars on-site available for rental.  These cars may be rented in advance through Our Specialists or once you arrive (subject to availability at the time).  Please note that these cars are private vehicles and not covered by any sort of insurance.

It’s always a very good idea to have private transportation when you visit Niue.  This may be in the form of a rental car, motor-scooter or bicycles.  Just being able to jump into a rental car anytime and drive to town and beyond or to the town and nearby restaurant/cafés is an integral part of enjoying a holiday here. We are more than happy to include your personal transportation choice in package arrangements.
