What sets this Condominium Resort apart from most others on Maui is the quiet but central location to all the attractions of Maui. Sugar Beach, (so named due to the fine texture of the sand on the 8 kms long beach), is a quiet location on the northern fringe of Kihei which places it a 15 minute drive away from Kahului Town to the north (Walmart, Costco etc), 15 minutes from Wailea Resort Area to the south and 15/25 minutes from Lahaina and all the action of Kaanapali Beach to the north-west. Due to its distance from night clubs etc, you don’t find much action after 9:00pm in this part of Kihei so this property tends to attract couples, seniors and families with younger children.
Sugar Beach Resort is a complex comprising 216 privately-owned one and two bedroom condos, most of which are managed on behalf of their owners by various Condo Management Companies. Each unit is individually equipped and decorated to the owners’ own holiday needs so each one, while of the same 1 or 2 bedroom floor plan, differs in many ways. The units are all well set-up and equipped and the management companies ensure there is professional cleaning between guest stays. It’s important to understand that units are not serviced during guest stays, but each unit has a clothes washer and dryer and is equipped with linen, towels etc. Owners of Units at Sugar Beach Resort usually have them set up for beach holidays, so furnishings usually reflect that use.
Kitchens are fully equipped with full-size fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffeemaker, microwave oven as well as a normal kitchen stove with oven and 4 element cook-top and come equipped with cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery.
The beach, although it is open to the ocean is terrific for morning walks, swimming and kayaking and viewing from your balcony especially at sunset. The beach is not as busy as some of the beaches on Maui. For a condo property, Sugar Beach Resort has a good range of well-maintained resort-style facilities such as a heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi Spa Bath, Dry Sauna, ample guest BBQs and sun-loungers and even a poolside kitchen guests may hire to cook poolside meals.
Sugar Beach is a favourite spot of “Mainland” American and Canadian vacationers. It has a pleasant family beach holiday feel about it and is a good option for those seeking a more relaxed, do-your-own-thing style of holiday while having central access to all Maui’s attractions. This is an ideal spot to come home to after a busy day sightseeing, shopping, golfing, sailing or swimming – to sit on your balcony at sunset, listen to the sounds of the sea and unwind as the day draws to a close.

Your Accommodation Options
Sugar Beach Resort comprises two “L” shaped buildings known as the Mill Building and the Planation Building, both have 6 levels, all with lift access. The 216 condo-style apartments either face directly to the ocean or have a side-on view of the ocean over the resort pool area. Garden View units have a filtered view from their ground floor location. Solidly constructed, each lanai/balcony is integrated into the unit which provides almost complete privacy from the adjacent units when sitting on the balcony. All units come with a full kitchen comprising a full-sized fridge/freezer, a normal kitchen stove with a 4 element cook-top and oven and a microwave oven – most have a dishwasher too. The spacious units all have a clothes washer and a clothes dryer in a separate laundry alcove. One Bedroom Units have a separate bedroom and separate lounge/living area and those which have a fold-out sofa bed in the lounge area will sleep up to 4 guests. Two Bedroom Units are on one level with a double-size lanai. Each bedroom is the same size and has an individual ensuite bathroom.

A mandatory cleaning fee is charged at Sugar Beach Resort as follows:

One-Time Reservation & Damage Waiver Fee:
A one-off Fee of US$50 plus tax (a total of US$52.09) is charged by the resort and will be included in your package price.
This fee replaces the need for Sugar Beach Resort to collect a credit card imprint from guests on arrival at the resort. The fee covers any accidental damage up to US$1,000.00. Items that are broken need to be reported to resort management.

Guests staying in this type of accommodation enjoy spectacular views of the migrating whales during the northern hemisphere winter months.

Getting to and from Sugar Beach Resort
We will include return seat-in-vehicle airport transfers between Kahului Airport Maui and Sugar Beach Resort in package arrangements as required/agreed. Direct transit time between Sugar Beach Resort and Kahului Airport is approximately 15 minutes across the trans-island road.
The Maui Bus (US$2 ride fee) operates hourly between Kihei and downtown Kahului (Maui’s capital) and the trip takes approximately 1 hour each way. For trips to Lahaina, The Maui Bus route 15 (Maui Bus stop is around a 15 minute walk away) connects with route 20 at Maalaea Harbour Village. There is also a very regular Maui Bus service between Lahaina and Kaanapali Beach, so you can certainly get around by public transport if you are not in too much of a hurry!
There is a convenience store for light grocery items and a deli in the roadside row of shops attached to Sugar Beach Resort which is very handy especially for those on shorter stays. The nearest shopping centre and Safeway Supermarket is in Kihei Village which is an approximately 6 minute drive away. There is a Bakery and ABC Store within an easy 10/15 minute walk along the beach.
For those staying a week or more, you will probably want to rent a car for at least a period of your stay and Our Specialists can assist with this. Parking for a car is included in the accommodation price at Sugar Beach Resort.

Bookings cancelled within 7 days of scheduled arrival (Hawaii time) will incur a cancellation fee equal to the cost of staying 4 nights at the rate booked plus relevant taxes. This includes no shows and guests departing before scheduled departure date.
Peak Season Bookings
21 December to 03 January
Bookings cancelled after 01 November (Hawaii time) will incur a cancellation fee equal to the cost of staying 7 nights at the rate booked plus relevant taxes. This includes no shows and guests departing before scheduled departure date.
