SHERATON PRINCESS KAIULANI
Our Resort Report
OUR thoughts on Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, 120 Kaiulani Avenue, Waikiki
It’s hard to believe that Sheraton Princess Kaiulani was first opened in 1955 – it still looks and feels comfortable and quite modern. What the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani has going for it is its excellent value for money, its great location and the pleasant “Hawaiian feel” about the place. You could hardly be closer to the beach without actually being on the beach and because the hotel is not directly on the beach frontage, this is reflected in the price. Sheraton Princess Kaiulani fronts Kalakaua Avenue to the south, Kaiulani Avenue to the east and The International Market Place to the west. The up-market Moana Surfrider Hotel, A Westin Resort & Spa is opposite on the beachside of Kalakaua Avenue and Kings Village with its boutique restaurants and shops is on the other side of Kaiulani Street. Staying at Sheraton Princess Kaiulani you are only half a block away from the hustle and bustle of Kuhio Avenue past the Ohana Waikiki East by Outrigger.
The hotel offers 2 pool-side restaurants, one of which features a nightly buffet dinner which would have to be one of the best buffet meals available in Hawaii – make sure you arrive hungry! Sheraton Princess Kaiulani also has a big program of regular services for guests to enjoy – room service meals (breakfast and dinner), five nights a week Polynesian Journey dinner and cocktail show and a very good 24-hour Fitness Centre. Cultural activities, each on a different day of the week include pineapple carving, flower lei making, hula lessons, ukulele lessons and Hawaiian quilt making lessons. Wifi is available in various hotspots around the hotel lobby extending to the beach as well as in all hotel rooms. A “Doctors on Call” 24-hour Medical Clinic is located on property. The coin-operated laundry in the basement is useful for those guests who have packed light.
Sheraton Princess Kaiulani participates in the “Stay at One, Dine at All” program offered where guests at Sheraton Princess Kaiulani can enjoy dining, shows, oceanfront entertainment options, fitness center, and spa at Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, Sheraton Waikiki and The Royal Hawaiian and simply sign the charges back to their room at Princess Kaiulani.
