OUR thoughts on Waikiki Shore by Outrigger, 2161 Kalia Road, Waikiki
Apartment/Condo-style, beachfront on Waikiki Beach.  This property has a lot going for it and it ticks a lot of boxes for Kiwi travellers.  First of all it’s right on Waikiki Beach next door to the Outrigger Reef on the Beach, secondly all rooms are condos with a full range of apartment-style facilities, thirdly, guests at Waikiki Shore enjoy access to the Swimming Pool and all hotel services, restaurants, Starbucks Coffee and lounges at The Outrigger Reef Hotel next door and finally, all of the Outrigger rooms face outward to the ocean and/or the park next door. The Outrigger Reef is so handily located that apartments in Waikiki Shore by Outrigger are no further away from the facilities at The Reef than some of the rooms in the Outrigger Reef Hotel itself. 

Staying at Waikiki Shore by Outrigger gives you the best of both worlds – an apartment-style unit with a kitchen or kitchenette and a clothes washer/dryer plus, next door, all the facilities of a full resort hotel whenever you need them and a great location as well. Please note that Housekeeping/maid service is optional and provided at additional cost.

At Waikiki Shore, all rooms face outward over Fort DeRussy Park or have uninterrupted ocean views.  Like most condominium buildings, units are individually owned, so they are all a little different when it comes to furnishings etc.  Outrigger provides a 24 hours reception service for Waikiki Shore at Regency on Beachwalk Waikiki by Outrigger which is a block and a half away, so guests arriving at Waikiki Shore either phone ahead or use a courtesy phone in the lobby to call Reception and a guest services representative will attend to the check-in formalities in the condo itself.  This is a well-established system and works a treat.

Note Regarding “Resort Fees”
In recent times, in high tourist areas of USA like Las Vegas and Hawaii, some hotels/resorts, have introduced an additional nightly charge known as a “Resort Fee”.  Resort Fees are a compulsory additional charge per room per day and can range from as little as US$10.00 per night up to as much as US$50.00 or more per night.  
As at 07 January 2020, Waikiki Shore by Outrigger does not charge Resort Fees.

Checkout Cleaning Fee
A mandatory check-out cleaning fee is charged at Waikiki Shore by Outrigger as follows:
Studios:                        $200 plus tax  
One Bedroom:              $260 plus tax
Two Bedroom:              $310 plus tax

The Checkout Cleaning Fee is payable direct to the property by departing guests.  

The Accommodation Options
There is a choice between Studios, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom condos and the option of Park View or Ocean View.

Ocean View rooms are on the long, west-facing side of the building on the floors above the palm trees on Fort DeRussy Park.  The Park View rooms are those which face out towards and through the palm trees. All have useable balconies and the sunset views are spectacular.

The kitchens/kitchenettes in all condos are made for real cooking, with cook-top, stove (1 and 2 Bedroom Units), microwave, full-size fridge/freezer, cooking utensils, toaster, blender, coffee-maker and rice cooker.

Minimum Stay Policy
Waikiki Shore by Outrigger has a year-round 2 nights minimum stay policy.

Room Categories
Studio Ocean View Rooms
Nice big open plan 40m² Studios on higher floors with ocean views. Studios have a well-equipped kitchenette which includes stove top, microwave, fridge, coffeemaker, cookware and tableware. Clothes washer/dryer included
Maximum Occupancy: 2 Adults
Existing Bedding: 2 Single Beds or 1 Queen Bed.
Additional Bedding:  No additional bedding accommodated.

One Bedroom Park View Rooms
On lower floors with outlook towards trees in Fort DeRussy Park.  One Bedroom Park View condos are 80m² in size.  The bedroom may open up into the living area during the day if required by means of folding or sliding doors to make a bigger living space. The kitchen includes a dishwasher, stovetop, microwave, fridge, coffeemaker, cookware and tableware.  A clothes washer/dryer is included.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests including adults, infants and children
Existing Bedding: 2 Single Beds or 1 Queen Bed in the bedroom, 1 Queen fold-out Sofa Bed in the lounge.
Additional Bedding: 1 Rollaway Bed (extra charges apply) may be added. (paid directly to the hotel at check out).  Alternatively, a complimentary cot may be included.

One Bedroom Ocean View Rooms
Higher up the building with lovely views out over the park to the beach and ocean.  These condos are 80m² in size and have the option to open up the bedroom into the lounge area during the day by means of sliding or bi-folding doors.  The kitchen includes a dishwasher, stovetop, microwave, fridge, coffeemaker, cookware and tableware.  A clothes washer/dryer is included.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests including adults, infants and children
Existing Bedding: 2 Single Beds or 1 Queen Bed in the bedroom, 1 Queen fold-out Sofa Bed in the lounge.
Additional Bedding: 1 Rollaway Bed (extra charges apply) may be added. (paid directly to the hotel at check out). Alternatively, a complimentary cot may be included.

Two Bedroom 1 Bath Ocean View Rooms
       Two bedrooms and 1 bathroom. 
These condos are a generous 106m² in area with a nice big balcony and lovely park, beach and ocean views. Full kitchen with dishwasher and a clothes washer/dryer.
Maximum Occupancy: 6 guests including adults, infants and children
Existing Bedding: 2 Single Beds in one bedroom & 1 Queen Bed in the second bedroom.  There is a Queen-size fold-out Sofa Bed in the lounge area.
Additional Bedding: 1 Rollaway Bed (extra charges apply) may be added. (paid directly to the hotel upon check out). Alternatively, a complimentary cot may be included. 

Two Bedroom. 2 Bath Ocean View Rooms
      Two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. 
These suite-like apartments are a very generous 121m² in area with a nice big balcony and lovely park, beach and ocean views. Full kitchen with dishwasher and a clothes washer/dryer.
Maximum Occupancy: 6 guests including adults, infants and children
Existing Bedding: 2 Single Beds in one bedroom & 1 King Bed in the second bedroom.  There is a Queen-size fold-out Sofa Bed in the lounge area.
Additional Bedding: 1 Rollaway Bed (extra charges apply) may be added. (paid directly to the hotel upon check out). Alternatively, a complimentary cot may be included. 

Getting to and from Waikiki Shore by Outrigger
We will provide a coach or private car arrival/departure transfers between Honolulu International Airport and Waikiki Shore by Outrigger in package arrangements as required/agreed.

Kids’ Policy
Kids Stay Free
Children 17 years of age and under stay free if accommodated in existing bedding, sharing with at least 2 paying adults and subject to individual room category maximum occupancy policies.

Complimentary cots for infants under 2 years of age are provided when pre-booked.

Check-in/Check Out
The hotel advise that they will do all possible to accommodate guests arriving prior to 3:00pm but can only guarantee accommodation will be available immediately on arrival if accommodation has been booked and paid from the night prior to arrival.
Check In Time: 3.00pm
Check Out Time: 11:00am
A late check-out to 6:00pm may be available at a charge of 50% of the room rate occupied. This facility can only be arranged once guests check-in and is payable direct to the hotel.

Resort Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be made in writing.
Cancellations made 30 days or less prior to scheduled
      arrival or "no shows" are subject to a cancellation
      fee equal to the cost of staying 1 night at the rate
      plus taxes.
 Year-End Policy - Cancellations or "no shows" for
      bookings scheduled to arrive during December 22 to 31
      inclusive are subject to a cancellation fe equal to 100%
      of the cost of the stay booked plus taxes.
