OUR thoughts on Royal Kahana Maui by Outrigger
Located just 10 minutes drive north of Ka’anapali Beach and 45 minutes from Kahului Airport, the Royal Kahana Maui is a 12 floor condominium building, set on a small, quiet beach which it shares with half a dozen other resorts.  The outstanding feature of this property is its high value for money.  Kahana, is a great area for those holidaymakers seeking a quieter location away from the crowds, somewhere to walk on the beach at sunrise and sunset and swim off the beach in beautifully clear water while not being surprised to discover you might be sharing the space with a sea turtle or two. Further out, you will often see whales in the whale migrating season. In this part of Maui the beaches are set in a series of bays, separated by black rock outcrops which make the white sand seem even more white! 

We think you will enjoy the slower, laid-back style of the Maui coast in this location, although there are still plenty of facilities close by - it is only a short five-minute stroll to the Kahana Gateway Shopping Center and several good, well-priced restaurants and specialty bars. The Ka’anapali public bus runs every hour from 6:00am to 8:00pm from Kahana to Whalers Village Ka’anapali where it connects to all points of interest on Maui.  This resort is a handy drive away from 2 excellent golf courses. 

The Resort buildings form an open “U” shape with a pleasant swimming pool on the beach frontage and a very popular Club Room and Pool Cabana and communal-use BBQs – all great spots to meet and mingle with other guests. The complimentary coffee served in the lobby every morning from 6.30 to 9.30am is also a very welcome service. The Aloha Welcome Reception is held every Thursday at the pool cabana from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Guests also enjoy the well-equipped fitness centre.

Rated 3 Diamond by AAA, Royal Kahana Maui by Outrigger is a Condominium resort, so each condo is individually owned and a little different from its neighbours.  Condos are really someone’s “beach pad” so expect to find beach-style furnishings, not the slick, city-centre style.  This adds to the relaxed holiday feel of the place. All the condos are designed to be lived in, so you will find a full kitchen with all cooking utensils provided as well as crockery and cutlery.  A feature is the clothes washer and dryer.  Being a condo, rooms are not serviced every day – on a 7 night stay, a mid-stay full maid service is provided during which sheets and towels are changed.

Note Regarding “Resort Fees”
In recent times, in high tourist areas of USA like Las Vegas and Hawaii, some hotels/resorts, have introduced what is known as “Resort Fees”.  Resort Fees are a compulsory additional charge per day and are not included in the accommodation tariff but payable direct by the guest on check-in at the hotel/resort.  Resort Fees can range from as little as US$3.00 per night up to as much as US$30.00 or more per night. 
As at January 2020, Royal Kahana Maui by Outrigger does not charge Resort Fees.

Condos at Royal Kahaba are not serviced during guests' stays.  However, for guests requiring room servicing, this is available at a fee.  Twenty-four hours notice is required for housekeeping services.  Two options are available - "Towels and Trash" or "Full Service". Costs are payable direct to the resort.

Your Accommodation Options
There is a choice between Studios with a Garden View or an Ocean View.
One and Two Bedroom condo units offer a choice of Garden View, Ocean View and Oceanfront locations.

Garden view units are located on the internal side of the 2 hotel wings which face inward or on the lower floors facing outward.  From the inner-facing rooms on the middle to higher floors there is a pleasant view of the interior mountains and the surrounding residential areas. Ocean View units are located on the outside of the wings and have beach and ocean views from the balconies out to the islands of Molokai and Lanai in the middle distance.  Oceanfront units are exactly that – right on the front from which the 2 wings radiate back.  The views from the Oceanfront rooms are spectacular and clear of any other buildings. Sunset views are spectacular from these rooms.

All units are air-conditioned and have full kitchens, washer/dryer and Cable TV.

Getting to and from Royal Kahana Maui by Outrigger
We will provide a coach or private car arrival/departure transfer between Kahului Airport and Royal Kahana Maui in package arrangements as required/agreed.  Hawaiian Airlines has recently commenced twice daily jet-prop services between Honolulu and Kapalua Airport which is closer to Royal Kahana – seats are quite limited compared to the large number of jet flights servicing Kahului Airport.

Check-in/Check Out
The hotel advise that they will do all possible to accommodate guests arriving prior to 3:00pm but can only guarantee accommodation will be available immediately on arrival if accommodation has been booked and paid from the night prior to arrival.

Resort Cancellation Policy
 All cancellations must be made in writing.

     arrival and "no shows" are subject to a 2 nights
     cancellation charge.
 Christmas Policy - Cancellations or "no shows" for
     bookings scheduled to arrive between 18 and 31
     December are subject to a cancellation fee 
     equal to 100% of the cost of the accommodation booked.
