OUTRIGGER WAIKIKI BEACHCOMBER HOTEL
Formerly Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger
Kalakaua Avenue, Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii
Our thoughts on Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel
Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel is a good mid-range hotel in a fantastic location right in the centre of the holiday action on the city side of Kalakaua Avenue. Waikiki Beach is just over the road out front of the beachfront resorts on the opposite side of Kalakaua Avenue. Accessing the beach is easy – just take the lane between the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach and the Royal Hawaiian or better still, wander through the hotel lobbies of the beachside resorts. Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel is almost surrounded on two sides by the International Market Place, which has recently been completely redeveloped. The marketplace and Duke’s Lane (which runs beside the resort) give easy access to all the shops and restaurants on Kuhio Avenue. Kuhio Avenue is the main access road for TheBus and many of the Waikiki Trolley routes, so not only do you have close beach access you are absolutely surrounded by every service imaginable in the heart of Waikiki. Macey’s Department Store is on the ground floor of Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel.
Because it’s an Outrigger property, you can be assured that the rooms will be spotless and comfortable and that the service will be friendly, courteous and helpful without being pushy. The Resort’s JBABC Restaurant on the Lobby level and is proving popular with a good range of light meals as well as great mains. The Maui Brewing Company at Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel is open for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Maui Brewing Company was founded by Garrett and Melanie Marrero in 2005 when it began its quest to brew handcrafted ales and lagers using the finest ingredients. Its vision; to support local agriculture and care for the environment, includes sourcing as many local products as possible and packing in the most eco-friendly materials – the can. The company also donates its spent grain to local farmers for feed and compost. Maui Brewing Co. is Hawaii’s largest authentic craft brewer and currently operates a brewery and tasting room in Kihei and a brewpub restaurant in Lahaina on Maui.
This resort is surrounded by dozens of dining options on both Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues and all the streets and lanes between so you are spoilt for choice for places to eat. We reckon you could stay for a month and still not manage to experience them all. For convenience, there is a large ABC shop nearby and the retail outlets in the Royal Hawaiian Centre are right across the road. The Cheesecake Factory is also across the road and we are always amazed that customers still queue up to dine at this outlet even though it has been operating for quite a few years now!

Your Accommodation Options
With 496 rooms spread over 25 floors, there are plenty of accommodation options. All accommodation has been recently refreshed and now sports a pleasant Hawaiian tropical décor with light floral accents which blends nicely with the light wooden-frame furniture. The open-plan hotel-style rooms are all furnished in the same way and have the same amenities; their position in the resort and their outlook defines the different tariff grades. All hotel rooms (as distinct from the Junior Suites) are approximately 31m2 in size. Hotel rooms are configured with either 1 King Bed or 2 Double Beds and although the hotel makes every effort to allocate a room with the bedding configuration requested, this is never guaranteed in advance.
