OUR Thoughts on Aston Waikiki Sunset
If you’re looking for a quieter location near Waikiki Beach, handy to buses and trolleys for a stay in a 1 or 2 bedroom unit with full kitchen at a value-for-money price, you should consider Aston Waikiki Sunset. As is the case in many of the condo buildings in Waikiki, many apartments at The Waikiki Sunset are privately let – we choose to book through Aston as they have a manager on-site and have a wide inventory of apartments on offer which must be maintained at a certain standard to qualify for the Aston branding. A new apartment refurbishment program (replacing sofa beds, carpets and refreshing curtains etc) has commenced in 2018 which will maintain Aston's apartment standards.
Where Aston Waikiki Sunset is located on Paoakalani Avenue, they are almost at the outer ring of the Waikiki high-rise condo buildings. Waikiki Banyan is across the road on one side of Waikiki Sunset, but this building doesn’t impinge too much on Aston Waikiki Sunset where most of the apartments on the north and east sides of this 38-floor building (and especially those condos on the higher floors) have great views either over Kapiolani Park to Diamond Head, the lights of the city or the ocean. Staying at Aston Waikiki Sunset you are only a couple of minutes-walk away from the Honolulu Zoo, 5 or 6 minutes-walk down to Kalakaua Avenue which runs along the famous Waikiki Beach and only a minute to Kuhio Avenue where most of the buses and trolleys stop. This is definitely the quieter end of the Waikiki strip.
Aston Waikiki Sunset is very family-friendly, though equally good for couples and especially good value for 2 couples travelling together sharing a 2 bedroom unit.
It’s a little difficult to rate this property objectively. The condos under the Aston umbrella are continiually being renovated and deserve their 4 Palm rating. The lobby has not been renovated as at April 2018 and is quite dated, although management advise they are in negotiation with the Condominium Association to have that work done sooner rather than later, so expect a 3 Star lobby and 4 Palm rated accommodation. There are 4 lifts in the building and they can get pretty busy especially around check-out time, so give yourself an extra 5 minutes if ever you have to meet a time deadline.
You will find the on-site convenience store has a very good range of all sorts of supplies you will need for a stay here. It’s very handy to be able to shoot down in the lift and stock up on wine and snacks and they even had fresh sandwiches daily last time we visited. There is a supermarket nearby along Kuhio Avenue and a Grocery Delivery Service if you are staying awhile and don’t feel like hauling around grocery bags. The Wifi connection in the rooms, which is charged as a part of the daily Amenity Fee, is very handy, but if you haven’t brought a laptop or tablet with you there is access to a Hospitality Room with PC workstations and high-speed Wifi internet. The coin-operated laundry on each floor is a particularly useful facility.
Every time you leave the beach strip or the Kuhio Avenue area of Waikiki and walk back to Aston Waikiki Sunset, you really do feel the more relaxed pace of this location the closer you get to your holiday base at Waikiki Sunset.

The 435 units at Waikiki Sunset are spread over floors 6 to 38 of the resort building. The first 5 floors are taken up by the car garage. The swimming pool and tennis court are located on the roof of the car park. The condos are fully equipped for cooking and dining; all have a full kitchen with fridge/freezer, full oven with cook-top and a microwave oven, toaster, crockery and cutlery. The terms “Standard” “Superior” etc really refer to their position in the building and their outlook; the higher the grading the wider the view.

Getting To and From Aston Waikiki Sunset
We will add airport transfers to your Aston Waikiki Sunset package as appropriate/required.
Aston Waikiki Sunset is handy to all “TheBus” routes on Kuhio Avenue – just wander around the corner to Kuhio Avenue to catch TheBus to Ala Moana Terminal and dozens of destinations right around Oahu. You can also connect with most of the Waikiki Trolley routes on Kuhio Avenue.

Bookings which include any nights falling within the peak
