SAVASI ISLAND
Boutique Resort Savusavu
Our Resort Report
Our Thoughts on Savasi Island, Koro Sea, Savusavu, Vanua Levu, Fiji
A perfect spot to unwind in a superb, natural environment. Savasi Island itself is something of a natural wonder with its entire 21 hectares full of delightful features at every turn. The island is only a hundred metres-or-so off Vanua Levu’s Hibiscus Highway, 15 minutes from Savusavu town and accessed across a bridge linking it to the ‘mainland’ - you feel the relaxing calmness of this place as soon as you cross the bridge. The island is a raised coral island with a sheltered inlet which is an ideal location for the dive base and a marina. The resort buildings are clustered around a raised point facing the Koro Sea and all blend almost seamlessly with the island amongst the coconut palms, ancient trees and flowering shrubs. The resort comprises eleven accommodation villas, 5 Penthouses and Staterooms on their new, permanently-moored schooner “Serenity”, a restaurant, lounge and separate cliff-side spa. The sandy coves and bays of the island are accessed down wooden stairs from various points off the raised part of the island where the resort buildings have been placed to maximise viewing of the lagoon and ocean from over the leafy tropical landscape. "Serenity" is moored in the resort's marina, an easy two-minute walk away.
Savasi is a high-quality resort built In tune with nature, so expect plenty of space, high-beamed ceilings, tons of louvred windows, big flowing decks, amazing bathrooms and décor which combines a natural Fijian style with contemporary flair. Most villas have a private pool in the deck and most are either fully or partially air-conditioned depending on whether particular rooms in any villa are exposed to sea breezes. The recent addition of the permanently-moored three-masted schooner "Savasi Serenity" has added something new and special to Savasi's accommodation offerings. We have provided full descriptions of all accommodation options in the section below with emphasis on air-conditioning, which villas have private pools as well as the "Serenity" and how it fits in so well with the Savasi environment.
Children are welcome year-round in land-based accommodation and nanny and buddy services are available. The resort does suggest that it is best suited for children aged over 10 years and that’s probably due to their unfenced individual pools and the raised nature of villa decking. "Savasi Serenity" is for adults only (the minimum age for guests to stay in "the ship" accommodation is 13 years.

Accommodation Options on "Savasi Serenity"
The former luxury boutique live-aboard dive boat, now named “Savasi Serenity” has been extensively renovated and up-graded to fit with its new life as a floating, but permanently moored resort ship. “Serenity” is moored at Savasi Island Resort’s sheltered marina, an easy 2-minute walk to and from Savasi’s main buildings. Designated “adults-only” accommodation, the ship retains many of its previous features and can be either a stand-alone product when all accommodation is booked out for sole-use by a small group of up to 10 guests or fully integrated into the Savasi experience. As well as the 5 accommodation units, “Serenity” has a games room, cinema, sun lounges, a private jacuzzi, lounge/bar, dining and conference facilities. Unless there is a private group buy-out of all the accommodation on Savasi Island at any time, guests on “Serenity” are more than welcome to use all the facilities of the island and all inclusions are extended to guests staying on “Serenity”. Serenity guests wishing to dine at the resort’s main restaurant need to book at breakfast of the same day at the latest.
Similarly, guests of The Island, are welcome to us all the facilities on board “Savasi Serenity” on a request/booking basis with the exception that access to Bridge Deck and Sun Deck jacuzzi and sun-lounge areas are for the exclusive use of “Serenity” guests.
Rooms on “Savasi Serenity” have all the same amenities as The Resort such as in-room safes, Pure Fiji toiletries, bath robes, air-conditioning, fresh bath and beach towels daily, daily housekeeping and nightly turndowns. Apart from the fact that “Serenity” accommodation is on a small ship and Savasi’s accommodation is in land-based villas, the man difference between the two is that the bathrooms on “Serenity” are compact as befits a cabin on a ship while the Savasi villa bathrooms are a great deal more spacious.
