MUSKET COVE ISLAND RESORT & MARINA FIJI
Our Resort Report
OUR thoughts on Musket Cove Island Resort & Marina, Malolo Lailai, Mamanuca Islands, Fiji
We would sum up Musket Cove as having "something for everyone". It ticks all the boxes for a tropical island holiday - great beaches, a colourful tropical landscape, wide accommodation options including authentic-style bure accommodation, hotel-style rooms, absolute waterfront bungalows with overwater balconies or modern 2-bedroom townhouse-style garden villas. Add to this an island-style spa, restaurants and bars and even a very well stocked convenience store, but what makes Musket Cove Resort special and different is the International Marina and Yacht Club which is integrated into the arrival/departure point of the resort right on its doorstep. “The Trader” and the “Coffee Cove” are the link between the Marina and the Resort. The famous Ratu Nemani Island Bar on the first of the two linked small islands which shelter the marina is a relaxed sand-between-the-toes type of place where resort guests happily mingle with locals and cruising yachties.
"The Trader" Musket Cove's convenience store offers a complete range of groceries etc for those who either wish to cook a full meal in their villa, make use of the resort barbeques to cook up a personal meal or simply prepare a snack in their Bure. Fresh fruit and vegetables are stocked daily, fresh bread, milk and eggs are also available. There is a good selection of cheese, yoghurt, meat, chicken and frozen foods, canned products, chocolate, sweets, ice creams, ice blocks and cold drinks as well as general basic necessities; flour, sugar etc. Cakes, cookies and specialty items are baked daily in the bakery.
There is a range of dining options at Musket Cove and the food receives good reviews from guests. Dick's Place Bar & Bistro, is the main restaurant. Dick’s Place occupies a beautiful, plantation-style building where guests may either dine indoors or out on the wide veranda beside the pool (where the excellent buffet breakfast is served daily) or out around the nice big horizon swimming pool on the extensive pool deck under the big trees which are part of the deck. The new Marinas Edge Café is a great spot for a lazy coffee as well as light meals, a beachside coffee, a snack, or ice-cream. The Activities Bure is not just for water-based activities, they also have a stock of bicycles for hire and these are in high demand as Malolo Lailai Island is quite flat and very bicycle-friendly - indeed many of the staff ride bicycles as they go about their daily routine, to and from work.
Musket Cove Island Resort shares Malolo Lailai Island with 2 other resorts - Plantation Island Resort and Lomani Resort. As Malolo Lailai is a sizeable island, there is still a majority of the island in its natural condition and you are welcome to explore. A favourite activity of ours is to wander down to the far end of the small runway and turn left on to South Beach where the snorkelling is great. South Beach is often deserted, so if you are seeking a beach to yourself, this could well be the place for you.
Musket Cove is all inclusive with rates including breakfast, lunch & dinner daily.
Meals are available from Dick's Place Bar and Bistro, Trader Cafe and Island Bar (cook your own BBQ packs).
Consumption is only within these outlets and during set dining times. Ask our Travel Advisors for all the details.
