MALOLO ISLAND RESORT
Our Resort Report
OUR Thoughts on Malolo Island - Fiji, Malolo Island, Mamanuca Islands, Fiji
This is a good quality Resort with some very special features. Malolo Island Fiji is built around a beach point on Malolo Island in Fiji’s Mamanuca Group and it’s easily accessible from the mainland by fast ferry or speedboat.
The accommodation is all bure-style and each bure is presented in modern, light colours giving the feeling of a tropical colonial cottage. The white/cream colours throughout which carry out to the spacious veranda, are highlighted by muted modern soft furnishings. There are no dark corners anywhere in these delightful Bures.
Malolo Island Fiji is very popular with families and the way the resort handles families and the special facilities they provide for children means that singles and couples also thoroughly enjoy stays at Malolo even when there are lots of kids around. For a resort with 46 bures, there are wide open spaces and a long stretch of beach, so guests never feel crowded. Kids are superbly looked after in the complimentary Kids’ Club and have special dining arrangements.
Malolo is a medium-sized island with a high hill in the centre so a very pleasant activity which can be undertaken at no additional cost is a tramp up to the Malolo Lookout for special views of Malolo Resort and Likuliku Resort on the other side of the island as well as extensive views of the whole Mamanuca Island region.
You don’t really need to leave the Resort at all to have a great holiday experience. The Resort surrounds are beautiful and the whole Resort is constantly being maintained to a very high standard. There is a long jetty out front (which is a good location for fish-spotting) and a moored pontoon off the beach to swim to. The beach is natural with good sand. Because of its natural state there is a smattering of coral stones on the sea floor, so it’s probably wise to throw some beach shoes in with your packing if you like to walk out into the sea. Malolo has an exceptional Beauty Spa (Leilani’s) which is located right in the middle of the Resort in a quiet spot close to the Bures. Leilani’s comprises 3 separate buildings (2 of which are for couples) for spa treatments and massage,

Your Accommodation Options
There are 46 modern Plantation-style accommodation units at Malolo Island – Fiji. Apart from the 4 large, stand-alone Family Bures, all the accommodation is housed in duplex units (2 Bures to a building) which are strategically placed around the curve of the beach point on which the Resort is located and this not only gives privacy but also maximises the views from each individual bure veranda. Approximately half of the bures are located immediately on the land-side of the beachfront path which winds its way along the beach frontage while the other Bures are located in a very pleasant area (which we like to call the “Village Green”) facing lawns just a few metres back from the beachfront path. Every Bure, except for the 2 Island Bures located in the “Village Green” area has an ocean view from the veranda.
Every Bure features air-conditioning and fans. Each has a high vaulted ceiling and modern, fresh décor with light-coloured ceramic tiles and a modern bathroom. All Bures have tea/coffee facilities and a bar fridge. The spacious veranda on each Bure is a feature too with its comfortable lounging/sitting furniture and views of the ocean and the spectacular tropical sunsets.
