OUR Thoughts on Castaway Resort, Arorangi Beach, Main Road, Ara Tapu, Rarotonga, Cook Islands
Castaway Resort is a small, quiet and secluded adults only island paradise boutique resort featuring a mix of eighteen units built on the edge of Rarotonga's magnificent lagoon on the sunset side of the island. This friendly and casual relaxed resort offers a range of accommodations at very cost-effective rates for all types of travelers. The resort has one of the true Beach Bars on the island. Castaway's Beach Bar is situated right on the sandy shores and is the ideal location to relax, dine, or have a drink. Castaway's Beach Bar has proved to be very popular with our in-guests staying at the resort The new management of Castaway Resort has recently reviewed the accommodation in the context of all other accommodations in the same price range and has re-packaged the resort to broaden its range of potential guests and to price the accommodation more realistically in the current Cook Islands market. Featuring comfortable self-contained and air-conditioned apartments/rooms. The furnishings and decor capture the tropical flavor of the island with the design and colors reflecting a light and airy tropical beachside living. This friendly little adult only resort is well known for its fantastic beach location, quirky character, and relaxed ambience.
Dining Options
Breakfast - The complimentary in-room breakfast packs consist of bread, cereal, butter, spreads, milk, juice, tea, coffee and local fruits (when available). These are replenished every 3 days, or on request at Reception.
Breakfast/Lunch – Breakfast/Lunch options are available at Castaway Beach Bar from 10am till 2pm (Sunday only).
Main Menu and Snack Food Menu - available from 2pm until 8:30pm when the kitchen closes for the night.
Beach Bar - Open from 2pm until 8.30/9pm Monday to Saturday and 11am until 8.30/9pm Sunday.
Your Accommodation Options
Castaway Resort is a self-catering property where all the rooms have kitchenettes with a small fridge and an electric cook top. Each has a separate bathroom with shower, ceiling fan, Wi-Fi internet access, IDD telephone options, insect screened windows, air-conditioning, outdoor decks on each room for dining and more. These features give our guests the options of staying on the property and preparing their own meals or to simply relax and dine either by the poolside or down at the beach or alternatively at one of the many restaurants and eateries that Rarotonga has to offer.
Minimum Stay Policy
Castaway Resort has a 3-night minimum-stay policy.
Room Categories (In ascending order of tariff)
Poolview Studio:
The 7 x 27 square meter Poolview Studios are located directly around the pool area and are a mix of original spacious studios with a step separating the bedroom and living/kitchen areas and private bathrooms with a shower cubicle, toilet and vanity, and newer studios featuring combined bedroom and living areas with a connecting modern open wet-room shower, toilet and vanity. All studios have lounge amenities and kitchens offering all necessary cooking facilities along with dining utensils. Air-conditioning and insect screens are standard in all rooms. Each studio has it's own private patio with outdoor dining and easy access to the poolside deck and in turn, the pool itself.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 Adults
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed which converts to 2 Single Beds if required.
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding is accommodated.
Poolside Studio:
The 1 x 27 sqaure meter Poolside Studio is located metres from the pool area but enjoys the most privacy of all the ground-level studios as it has a private veranda with outdoor dining in its own fenced courtyard area. The Poolside Studio has an entrance/kitchenette area offering all the necessary cooking facilities along with dining utensils. This leads to the combined master bedroom and main living area with comfortable seating and lounge amenities. The private bathroom has a shower cubicle as well as a toilet and hand basin. Air-conditioning and insect screens give you the option of a cooler temperature or to allow a natural air flow through the room

Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed which converts to 2 Single Beds if required.
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding is accommodated.
Oceanview Studio:
The 4 x Oceanview Studios are 27 square meters. These second-story studios consist of three main areas within the room. The master bedroom is combined with the main living area with a comfortable seating area and lounge amenities. The ranch slider opens out onto a private balcony. Rooms feature a connecting bathroom equipped with an open shower area (wet room) including a detachable shower head installed as well as a toilet and vanity unit. The kitchen and cooking area connected on the opposite side offering all necessary cooking facilities along with dining utensils. Air-conditioning and insect screens are standard in all rooms. Each villa boasts partial views of the “at your doorstep” beach scene as well as the breath-taking sunsets every night.

Additional Bedding: No additional bedding is accommodated.
Beachside Studio:
The 4 x Beachside Studios are 29 square meters. Settle into the spacious and comfortable Beachside Studio. Designed with an open-plan interior, the studio opens onto your private balcony, merely steps from the beach and lagoon with partial ocean and sunset views located behind Castaway Resort’s on-site beachfront restaurant and bar. The self-catering kitchen is equipped with necessary cooking facilities and dining utensils, including a fridge-freezer and small appliances. Escape the heat and mozzies with air-conditioning, ceiling fans and insect screens being standard in all rooms. Enjoy a restful sleep with on our queen bed, with additional space to unwind in the lounge setting furnished with a comfortable fold-out couch for a second guest. Your spacious tiled bathroom has a shower and introductory bathroom amenities supplied.

Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed.
Additional Bedding: Fold out Sofa on request.
Two Bedroom Apartment:
The 2 x Two Bedroom Apartments are a spacious size of 76 square meters, comfortably sleeping up to five guests and providing all the space you need during your stay. Each suite offers a generous open-plan design with a spacious covered balcony, complete with a six-seater outdoor dining set perfect for entertaining. The self-catering kitchen is equipped with necessary cooking facilities and dining utensils, including a dishwasher; full fridge-freezer; 4-burner stovetop oven and small appliances. Escape the heat and mozzies with air-conditioning, ceiling fans and insect screens being standard in all apartments. Enjoy a restful sleep with each room being fitted with super king beds that can split into two separate single beds, and an additional single bed in the 2nd bedroom, with space to unwind in the lounge setting. The en-suite master bedroom is fitted with its own air-conditioning and private bathroom. Refresh with complimentary amenities in the spacious tiled bathroom featuring a shower spa-bath.

Existing Bedding Configuration: Split-king in the master bedroom (can be king bed or two singles). Second bedroom equipped with a split-king and single bed (can be a king bed and a single or 3 x singles) .
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding is accommodated.
Getting to and from Castaway Resort
We can organise return shared airport transfers in conjuction with your accommodation. Airport Transfers include a flower lei and cold bottle of water on arrival and a shell lei on departure
The Circle Island Buses stop right outside Castaway Resort and rental cars and scooters are easily arranged. Parking is available at Castaway Resort for rental vehicles.
Kids Policy
Children aged under 16 years are not accepted as guests at Castaway Resort. This policy applies to the accommodation and private areas of the Resort although the Castaway Beach Bar is open to the public and accompanied children are permitted in the restaurant. Children dining at the Beach Bar are not permitted to use any other resort facilities.
Check-in/Check Out
The hotel will make every effort to ensure your rooms are available at your time of check-in. The Hotel’s standard times and rates are:

Early check in and Late Check Out service is based on Run of House only and is not available to pre-book. It Is only offered if available at check-in. To guarantee a room, we highly recommend to book a pre-registered and/or post-registered night. Please do ask our Travel Advisors if you wish to arrange this prior to arrival. Also note that there is a guest’s bathroom available free of charge should ECI and/or LCO not be available.
