OUR Thoughts on Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel, Titikaveka, Rarotonga
There is something very appealing about the Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel. The 17 room Hotel doesn't have a swimming pool, and lift or marble bathrooms, but, somehow, when you stay there, the feeling is one of utter enjoyment and contentment while enjoying the sort of comfort that you might normally expect to find at a higher-rated property.
Unless you have already experienced it, it is hard to explain how great it feels to wake up to the morning hush of the beach and the palm-fringed lagoon right outside your door or balcony. On Rarotonga’s south coast, the lagoon really does teem with marine life, the water is clear and you really can spend hours relaxing on the beach and dipping in and out of the lagoon for lots of swimming, snorkelling or kayaking. (Snorkel gear and use of kayaks is free for guests’ use).
There are plenty of beach sun-loungers lined up each morning, but they don’t stay in line for long, because the friendly atmosphere at Moana Sands soon has guests chatting, mixing, swapping Rarotonga experiences and enjoying each other’s company. The intimate “The Sands” Restaurant & Bar (open 7 days for breakfast, lunch and dinner) and the guest-use BBQ provides more opportunities for guests to mingle and get to know each other if they so wish. Tropical breakfast is complimentary for guests. Tropical Breakfast includes assorted cereals, bread, butter, assorted spreads, fresh fruit, yogurt, milk, juice assorted teas and percolated coffee. (In the unusual event that less than 6 rooms are occupied at any one time, the restaurant does not open for breakfasts and a breakfast pack is delivered to occupied rooms the night before.) A beach terrace attached to the restaurant provides a special beachfront dining experience. Guests now have the option of dining on the beach deck with its new island-style thatched roof or at tables and chairs right on the beach at the water’s side.

Your Accommodation Options
Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel offers two options; either Beachfront Studios or Deluxe Beachfront Studios. The Hotel is a three-level (walk-up) block with 6 Beachfront Studios on each of the ground and first floors, and five Deluxe Beachfront Studios on the second floor. Each room has a private balcony or patio. All rooms are air-conditioned and are fully serviced 6 days a week (no service on Sundays or public holidays). All rooms have LCD TV’s with Sky Pacific & all rooms are non-smoking. A limited number of Beachfront Studios on the Ground Floor and the First Floor offer interconnecting capabilities which makes them suitable for family accommodation or for groups of friends travelling together.
Room Categories (In ascending order of tariff)
Beachfront Studios
As you enter the room, you pass through a small kitchenette which consists of a refrigerator, microwave, jug, toaster and electric frying pan. All rooms have tiled floors, cane furniture and tropical décor. There is a small table and 2 chairs in the open living/sleeping area. Unit size is 40m2
Maximum Occupancy: 3 Guests (plus 1 infant in a cot)
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed (which may be split into 2 Single Beds) plus a separate Single Bed.
Additional Bedding: 1 Cot for an infant may be added.
Deluxe Beachfront Studios:
Significantly bigger rooms (49m2) on the top floor, with raked ceilings providing a feeling of even more space. All rooms have tiled floors, cane furniture and tropical décor. The kitchenette consists of a refrigerator, microwave, jug, toaster and electric frying pan. The table and chair set is in the kitchenette area. A DVD player included with the LCD TV.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 Adults
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed which splits into 2 Single Beds for twin occupancy.
Additional bedding: No additional bedding accommodated.
Families & Kids
● Children are welcome in the ground-floor and first-floor Beachfront Studios (subject to room maximum occupancy policy). There is a daily charge when the 3rd occupant is a child.
● One portacot for an infant aged under 12 months, is provided free of charge when pre-booked.
● Two Beachfront Studio Rooms on the ground floor, and another 2 on the first floor, interconnect, which makes them an ideal option for a bigger family group of up to 6 people.
Conditions:
1. Children are only accommodated in Beachfront Studios.
2, Beachfront Studios cater for 3 guests (adults or adults and children).
Exclusively For Adults
Deluxe Beachfront Studios are adults-only rooms (for guests aged 18 years+) .
Check-in/Check Out
Standard check-in and check-out times:
Check In Time: 2:00pm
Check Out Time: 10:00am
Early Check-in and Late Check-Out
(Charged at a special rate)
Early check-in and late check-out may be requested but will always be subject to availability once guests have arrived at the hotel.
To guarantee an early check-in or a late check-out, guests are recommended to pre-book the night before arrival and/or the night post departure.
Early Arriving Flights
We recommend that all guests arriving prior to 6:00am should book and pay for their room from the night before to guarantee access to their room at the time they arrive. Not doing this could result in a wait of around 12 hours to gain entry to your accommodation.
