OUR Thoughts on Club Raro Resort, Avarua outskirts, Rarotonga
Club Raro, adults only 18 + years resort, is located oceanfront with spectacular views over a coral beach, and is only five minutes’ drive from Avarua town. The 78 air-conditioned rooms with fridges, safes, complimentary toiletries, and furnished balconies provide a range of affordable accommodation. Jalapeños a la carte restaurant offers alfresco dining on an expansive deck under the shade of coconut trees. The Ocean Front Cabana seats up to 20 guests and is ideal for celebrations.  Club Raro’s famous cocktails are available at the swim up pool bar, the Sand Bar or in the lobby at the Club Bar.  Happy Hours are from 11am to midday and 4-6pm daily. Services include luggage storage, guest laundry, and self parking is available on site.  A wide range of tours can be booked from Reception from 7am to 11pm. Club Raro appeals to a wide range of adults including young guests wanting to enjoy the lively night life of Avarua, soft adventurers looking for a base to explore Rarotonga with its many activities, business people, and singles and couples of all ages looking for a friendly boutique experience, good food and spectacular views.  

Your Accommodation Options
As you enter the reception lounge at Club Raro the Standard Rooms are in 2 ribbon blocks of 10 rooms on either side of the reception area.  The Standard Self-Contained Rooms are off to the right-hand side with the Tamure Rooms beside.  Immediately behind Reception you find the Palms Restaurant & Bar and between the Palms Restaurant and the waterfront there is a nice courtyard which contains Club Raro’s swimming pool and swim-up bar.  The rooms opening on to the courtyard on either side are the Poolside Rooms. The two rooms at the waterfront end of each of these ribbon blocks are designated Ocean View Rooms and there is another ribbon block of 15 Ocean View Rooms which runs right along the lagoon frontage to the right of the Poolside Rooms. The block of 4 original Studio Apartments is located behind the Ocean View Rooms. All rooms, with the exception of the original Studio Apartments have a pleasant veranda/patio which is furnished with 2 outdoor chairs and an occasional table and defined from each other by a trellis divider.

Room Categories (In ascending order of tariff) 
 Standard Rooms:
Along with the Poolside Rooms these are the original rooms at Club Raro. Standard Rooms have tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge. There is a small private patio.
Maximum Occupancy: 3 Adults
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed and 1 Single Bed or 3 Single Beds
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated

 Standard Self-Contained Rooms:
The Standard Self-Contained Rooms are priced the same as the Standard Rooms but have a different bedding configuration/occupancy maximum.  Self-Contained Rooms include a remarkably well-equipped kitchenette which includes a kitchen sink, microwave oven, small convection oven with 2 hot-plates on top, a ¾ size fridge and a dining table and chairs.  There is a small private patio.

Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed or 2 Single Beds
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated 

 Poolside Rooms:
Similar in size, layout and facilities to the Standard Rooms. Each has a pleasant outlook towards the central courtyard and resort pool and are closer to the lagoon frontage. Each has tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge.
Maximum Occupancy: 3 Adults
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed and 1 Single Bed or 3 Single Beds
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated

 Studio Apartments:
The 4 Studio Apartments differ from the other accommodation at Club Raro in that they don’t occupy a ribbon block, so have only 1 access door.  The light for each Studio Apartment is provided from 1 small window and an internal skylight.  Studio Apartments have a kitchenette and modern bathroom with shower and hairdryer. There is no view as such from the Studio Apartments.

 Tamure Rooms:
A new two-level walk-up block of 16 units built on the site of the previous tennis court.  Ground floor units have a patio and first floor rooms a pleasant balcony.

Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed or 2 Single Beds
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated

 Ocean View Rooms:
Ocean View Rooms are the premium accommodation type at Club Raro, they have a beautiful view of the lagoon from the patio out front (and the passing whales in season). There is a path along the front of the rooms which is bordered outside the room by a slightly raised tropical garden and a row of coconut palms, on the other side of the path is the resort’s “Sand Deck” which is built above the sea shore. Should your budget allow, we recommend you treat yourself to an Ocean View Room; we believe the small additional price is good value for the location, the higher standard and the terrific outlook. Bathrooms have a shower and hairdryer. Each has tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge as well as iron and ironing board.

Getting To and From Club Raro 
We will include return airport transfers in package arrangements involving a stay at Club Raro as required/agreed.

Club Raro is handily located less than 2km from Rarotonga’s main town, Avarua and although it can be a bit of a hike in the heat of the day, it is feasible to walk to and from town when staying at this property. However, as is the case with every coastal hotel in Rarotonga, the round-island bus passes regularly en route to and from the town and beaches.  Options to walking or taking the bus include; cycling, taking a motorised scooter/bike or rental car.
