ATIU VILLAS
Our Resort Report
OUR Thoughts on Atiu Villas, Atiu Island, Cook Islands
There is one big mistake that many people make when they visit Atiu and stay at Atiu Villas; they don’t stay long enough! Atiu is accessed by Air Raro direct from both Rarotonga and Aitutaki, so travellers can make Atiu an add-on to a stay in Rarotonga or do a circle trip from Rarotonga taking in both Atiu and Aitutaki. You won’t find big resorts on Atiu or hordes of tourists, in fact the total number of tourists on the whole island is often less than 10! What you will find on Atiu is a place where visitors are still treated as honoured guests, a pleasant natural environment, roads which are often just 2-wheel tracks through the unspoilt surroundings and a wide range of scenic and cultural attractions to visit and enjoy.
Atiu Lodge is a gem. It’s clean, comfortable and companionable and located in a lovely garden setting. The in-room larder is a great facility and no, you do not find mini-bar prices, the goods in the larder are priced very close to the same level you find at the local Atiu Store. The tropical fruit growing around the gardens is free for the taking. The swimming pool and the tennis court are a bonus, but the main attraction, apart from the very good accommodation is the on-site restaurant “Kura’s Kitchen”. Kura’s dinners are enjoyed by guests at a communal table and that adds greatly to the enjoyment of a stay at Atiu Villas.
Atiu is the sort of place that makes guests want to mix together and discuss the events of the day and swap stories.

What Atiu Villas Say About Themselves:
“Welcome
Atiu Villas is situated on Atiu Island on the outskirts of the central villages. Atiu Island is in the Cook Islands. The site provides a quiet and relaxing environment surrounded by an extensive tropical garden, pineapple fields and a view down a jungle clad valley to the ocean. It is only a short walk to the white sandy beaches of the southern coastline.
Atiu Villas are unique in that the chalet style villas are made almost entirely of local native timbers and materials and feature the polished woods of mango, coconut, red peanut, acacia, cedar, Java plum and many other tropical trees. Each villa has a private verandah, cooking facilities, separate bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities and a feature not often seen elsewhere, a fully stocked larder which guests can use and pay for what they use on departure. The larders are well-stocked with dairy food, beverages, packaged and tinned food. The villas have varying bedding configurations that can take from 2 to 6 people.
There is plenty of water and each villa has a solar hot water supply. Electricity, wifi internet and water run 24-hours a day. Your hosts will help you organise your transport, tours, activities or your complete relaxation.
An Evening restaurant and bar is on site serving 2-course evening meals. There is a swimming pool, tennis court, rental vehicles and free Wifi.”
